There are many aspects of a range hood to be considered a good range hood. Often enough people underestimate the installation process, and this is a big problem. Chinese cooking can be very tough for a kitchen range hood to keep up with, therefore powerful and quiet range hood will be needed. Standard duct size nowadays is 6``, however if you want powerful range hood the duct should be no less than 8``( with big ducts and powerful range hoods , it is always recommended to check with your city hall if you will need a make up air system, you do not wan to create negative pressure or back-drafting). The style and the type of blower of the range hood are equally important as the size of the duct. For maximum performance, we recommend the so called Pyramid Style range hoods, as the suction of these type of range hoods will be even all across the range hood, as it oppose to the flat panel range hoods , or glass type range hoods.

For ideal performance our company recommends distance between the top of the stove and the bottom of the range hood to be 30``. We at Victory Range Hoods do not recommend grease cups, or aluminum mesh filters with Chinese type of cooking, as it produces a lot of grease, and that is bad for both of the above mentioned filter types. The aluminum mesh filter gets clogged up with grease, and it can not be cleaned 100%. The biggest problem for the grease cups is the heat coming out of the stove, the heat can damage them, thus require changing. The ideal filter is and always will be the Stainless Steel Baffle Filter.

In summary, if you want to get a range hood that will work great, you need to be able to provide standard ceiling height, duct size of minimum 8`` (depending on the range hood requirement), and have stainless steel baffle filters, as they last forever, and don't have to be changed.
