Need Help - Complicated Home HVAC Replacement

User

I need to replace the HVAC system in my 2-story house in Houston Texas. Complicating the project is that the copper refrigerant piping runs a distance of about 105 ft from the evaporator coils in the attic to the compressors outside. The quote I'm considering is for replacement of two systems as follows:

  1. Two American Standard Silver 16 3-ton condensers Model # 4A7A6036J1000A
  2. Two American Standard evaporator coils Model # 4TXFH036CZ3HHB
  3. Two American Standard furnaces Model AUD1B060A9H31B
  4. New above-ground copper lines to condensers with custom painted cover
  5. Solenoid values for each unit
  6. Starter Kits for each unit
  7. Concrete pads for both compressors
  8. Metal supply and return air plenums.
  9. Start collars with manual dampers.
  10. Metal transitions with access panels.
  11. Metal furnace stands.
  12. Metal safety pans with overflow safety switches.
  13. Honeywell high efficiency air filters mounted behind both furnaces.
  14. Gas flex lines with sediment traps going into both furnaces.
  15. Filter driers installed in attic.
  16. Evacuate system with micron gage.
  17. Nitrogen purge copper lines when brazing. Mastic seal all work.
  18. Mastic seal return air duct boards in attic.

Grand total, including labor is $22,360 (or $11,180 per split system). Contractor is extremely reputable. I was told the long copper line set running to the compressors added about $3,000 in parts and labor (included in quote). The quote seems reasonable considering its a major job.

Any thoughts? Your advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
