Help with living room tables

This is my living room… It is quite large… We have a very oversized coach in here, matching love seat, and ottoman we use for extra seating ( really need two chairs and a table there but leave that for a different time) I've been trying to pull together the room using the green couches ( can't afford to buy new ones now) with the silver and gray tones ( ottomans decor etc)

Today I purchased the two metallic mirrored top tables (uneven sizes) and was going to put them as end tables on either side of each couch but then I put them in front of the big couch like coffee tables and kind of think that works and looked better... pulls the room together a little more...

I think the uneven sizes makes it look a little awkward. They might be better as end tables.

I agree with ctlane. You also already have the two ottomans in front of the fireplace.

I would look for one large coffee table.

The tables are very pretty if you can find a place for them.

Thanks. I agree. I really like the tables. Maybe I'll just use them as end tables for now and if I get two chairs I'll replace the ottoman and put One of the tables in between the chairs. Any suggestions of what kind of chairs I can get for that area? Also I really don't want to feel the whole rug with a coffee table because the kids play there... thoughts?

I'd use the large one as an end table to the right of the couch looking at the pic and the other in front of the couch where it is now. It's nice having a small table handy for the person sitting in that seat.

You don't have to fill the whole rug with a coffee table, but it does seem you need something more substantial if you want a coffee table. OR, use the ottoman as your coffee table and push it out of the way when the kids play on the rug. As for chairs, you might look for a basic club chair, maybe in a color?

It's a nice room but seems lacking in color. Some brighter pillows would really add some life to this room.

Are the tables sized such that you can nest the smaller one underneath the larger one? If so, that would look cool as a tiered coffee table in front of the sofa.

The tables dont nest... but I agree that would be cool. I decided to move the larger one over to the right side of the couch that you can see in the pic, and turned it sideways, (put a nice 8x10 picture frame with a mirrored and black rim) on it and the smaller one over, also trying turned sideways, right to the left side of the smaller couch which is on the opposite side that you cannot see in the picture. This way you can see both tables when you enter the room and ads visual interest one with the picture frame and one with the chess set.

The room is not really lacking in color. I actually removed some of the color that I used to have which was a lot of reds and maroons and replaced it with grays and metallics. It's hard to tell in the picture because of the lighting but the wall paint is a really nice warm gray. I really tried to achieve a quiet soft cozy warm inviting look. The addition of the light throw shag rug really brightens and warms up the room. I would love to add a coffee table and chairs... and something in front of the bay window that you cannot see in the picture. The room actually has two Large picture/bay windows...one of the front and one in the back. I think to really finish it off we need two chairs and a small table where that is and something for when you walk in by the bay window may be additional chairs for a small settee and a table? not sure what

Very pretty room...soothing and interesting.I love the feel of the room.

Could you move the couch to the left several inches so that the center

of the couch is centered in the window? ...Could you try it and post a pic.

Any ideas or thoughts about chairs and a table to put with the admin is more chairs and the table to put in front of the bay window?

I am also looking for a table to put behind the couch that you see in the picture. Right now there is something there that is just temporary. The couch is 90 inches long and the height should be around 30 inches. Don't need anything fancy… Just a counselor again to add some more visual interest with pictures and other decorative items.

Here is what I decided to do with the tables. Let me know what you think!

Ingrid... not at all! All comments welcome and could potentially be helpful even if not directly solicited! As an artist I appreciate it because sometimes other people can see what you don't. All good. Thanks! And thank you for your sensitivity.

Now I would like to find chairs like club chairs or a wing chairs to replace the Ottoman on the left side of the picture. Any ideas?

I think a more colorful rug would help really help ground your space. Everything seems to be the same color. I know you did not ask about a rug but I wanted to mention it. If you got a colorful rug first then it would be easier to find chairs

I actually like the rug because it brightens up the room I don't mind things being more monotone. I'm just looking for a style of chair(s) to replace the ottoman.

Your room looks great with the tables. Are you thinking modern or traditional shapes on the chairs?
