Hi Everyone! You've all been so helpful so far I'm wondering if you could help me with this!

In our current home build- in the family room - we decided last minute to install a fireplace. We framed the fireplace and the area for the stone that will surround it. We also framed bookshelves around it.

This is what we have so far: There's the fireplace in the center, then 2 bookshelves on either side, then a bookshelf to the far right and a bookshelf going over the doorway.

The area surrounding the fireplace is a 2x6 for 6 inches of stone (will be 8" total when it covers bit of the fireplace itself). There will be no surrounding molding. I want our fireplace to look similar to this:

Doea anyone have any advice on how to frame to fireplace surround to look similar to above while still being able to have built in bookshelves?
