Yard is about an acre. "Space them according to your dream goal"

As I wrote my goal is to to group them and have them overlap... Any help with how to space them to achieve this is very much appreciated.

It all depends on how soon you like this to happen. DR is a fast growing, very large tree. So you would have to figure growth rate and years before desired merging to estimate the planting space.

Thanks for the response. The desired time to overlap would be 7-10 years. I am thinking spacing them 10-12 feet on center. Are there issues with spacing them at this distance?

Make every other one a "ogon" DR

Spoke with Morton Arboretum in my area and they have a bunch of DR s. One as early as 1948 and others as recently as 2012. They also have a number that are grouped together. The plant clinic there says these trees in my zone won't reach the 100 foot size. But recommended that enough space is given for airflow. So plant a minimum of 15 feet.
