Looks like you are just placing the small pots into the wooden planter, right? Just take them out to water and drip dry elsewhere. Put any kind of plastic in the bottom to protect the wood when the pots are returned to the planter.

Maybe I am not totally understanding your question. If you are going to pot directly in the box, drain holes would be a good idea. Water outside or wherever, replace on a small tray on the table when finished.

Thanks for the suggestion. I decided to do what you said and water the flowers elsewhere and rotate different flowers into the planter box. I lined the box with wax paper and this way they stay clean and protected. Thanks for the compliment on the box, it was my first time doing a miter joint box and they turned out nice. I like the natural redwood finish and as long as they stay indoors it seems they'll keep looking nice and modern without weathering. I have a couple of boxes left over and I put them on my etsy site for sale if you're interested.
