I lost my purple thang and tore the house apart to eventually find it under the sewing machine. A while later, I was teaching a duffle bag class and one student said she had lost hers. I told her to look under her machine when she got home and we were both surprised when that's where it was! I liked getting that happy email

Mine gremlins move things within the room....objects go from the sewing table to the bookshelf to the desk to the window sill...one day I'll catch that creature and teach him a good lesson!

WOOHOO! I just found it! I had posted that I'd looked under the machine but that was just by scootching it around, when I completely lifted the machine off the table to do some fabric stripping, there it was!! Flamingo you were so right on. I'm getting ready to make binding, hope I can find a colorful stripe or plaid to do it with, those are my favorites to make bindings. Any nifty ideas on a workable easy-access-to-everything-catch-all to sit beside the machine so this doesn't happen anymore?

I'm glad you found it! You could make one of those scrap bags that hang on the edge of the table, and use it for small tools instead of scraps.

I use a crap caddy in a goblet. OK, it's called a cup caddy but it holds a ton of stuff so I changed the name. It will fit a coffee mug, too. I have a small plastic drawer cabinet like you would find in a man's shop that sits on the top of my table within reach of my machine. It organizes all the small tools, pins, needles, gloves, etc.
