No worries - it's not time to pick a backsplash yet. It's virtually impossible to pick a BS if you have chosen all your other materials but they are not yet installed. I know it's hard to wait, but it's for the best. Only when your other materials are in AND your final lighting is fully installed (not hanging bare bulbs) should you start the BS selection process. Don't let any contractor try to rush you and tell you otherwise. If you search Houzz you will dozens of other posts like yours and find this same advice over and over.

Just spoke to one of the largest flooring retailers in the country. She said clean, simple lines are most popular for backsplashes today with subway tile talking the lead. Stone looks are also hot right now. Take a look at these.

I feel like Sophie Wheeler being uber blunt lol. You are at high risk of making a major mistake if you choose a tile based on samples. Please do look at the pictures you get here as thought starters. But DON'T make a decision yet. Take it from someone who has lived it - you will spend hours agonizing over this only to find that you just won't be able to make a decision this soon. Take a nap or go for a walk or read a book instead :).

Yes - and since backsplash comes last, get the counters in before making a final decision. Seeing the big picture with the counters in changed my choice a bit.
