ART advice for dining "room"

I don't know what possessed me to put 2 mirrors in my dining area?!? Anyhow, I'm looking for that right piece of art to go over my cabinet. I'm looking at getting something origional or possible prints. Looking mainly at canvas art/paintings. I need advice on:

1-how large or small should/can I go?

2-what orientation would look best

3-if I fall in love with a smaller piece, can framing work. Or should I put a framed piece there anyhow?

4-are there certain subject matters that shouldn't really be in a dining area?

My cabinet is 47 1/4" wide, 15 1/4" deep, and 34 3/4" high (I don't love it, but replacing it isn't really in the budget right now). The wall is 95"hx60"w between door and side wall. The door frame is 83"h

Here is the room from different angles...

I've started an idea book for art trying to concentrate on around 30x40" sizes, but saving others I really like too. the mirror there now is 32x32. Thanks in advance for any help!
