oh thats wonderful - not that i mind snakes , actually i quite enjoy them . but imagining a snake that can lay an egg that size is freaky

I do agree that those are pretty big eggs for whatever snake species are near you. I could see a snake making its way into the bag to lay eggs compared to a big turtle trying to get in it.

Here in MO we have some fairly big harmless snakes. The prairie king snake, the black snake, they can both reach several feet and can be an inch and a half in diameter at least. I imagine the eggs could be pretty good size.

Snakes are cool though. :-]

toxcrusadr - yeah , missouri is known for decent sized snakes . my dad found a rattler on the side of 44 about 2 weeks ago .

I've never seen a rattler in 32 years in MO. Not that I'm complaining. :-D

Long ago at age 10±2 or so I might have taken any snake eggs I found and hidden them in grandma's compost hoping to see some baby snakes emerge. Silly perhaps but that is the sort of thing some of us did back there back then.

toxcrusadr - i’ve never seen one or have had encounters with one - thankfully . snakes do not bother me one bit , my dad on the other hand ... different story .

I once accidently uncovered some skink eggs. They were the same shape, but only about half an inch long at the most. They were under a rock.

Snake eggs would freak me out but that's because we have a lot of venomous snakes here. They do tend to be shy, though.

Last week we found a milk snake in a bag of soil opened in our garden at work and today we found another snake small same type, they tend to like soil so it’s warm to them plus they hide there from predators .
