then I'm into Andrew Wyeth's works right now..very inspiring. Your colors reminded me of his art..

It would bug the crap out of me. I'm kind of OCD.

What would bug me, are the legs on the “chair in question” and the legs of the sofa. I would prefer the legs to be metal…this is only a personal opinion...

What is the first chair pictured? Do you own that now?

Just realizing my text was deleted from the post! Explanation below but we own the first two and are debating the third. My husband doesn't want any more metal, though I understand your point!

What I meant to post at the beginning:
My husband and I are furnishing our new living room from scratch. We have purchased two pieces already but are struggling to decide on the final two seating options. Our style is more mid century modern but not too modern. We like clean lines and edges, things that look a bit interesting, but nothing too crazy. We have a sofa and safari chair already purchased. My husband fell in love with a black leather chair - we both like the style, shape, and color of this chair. But I'm concerned about it clashing with the brown leather safari chair. What do you think? Is there a world in which these two chairs can coexist and complement each other in the same living room?

I don't see it clashing..black and brown-one of the world's most popular combinations..if it exists in nature a lot it can be in a room too..that's what I believe in

these two are interesting colors to bring together, and all the pieces share some very similar sensibility so to say

repeat the colors, even if in small things..you know what you're drawn to, in sense of style..I think you'll figure it out

different legs wouldn't bug me as long as they have similar though behind them(simple, streamlined in this case..or similar in shape somewhat..)if anything I'd go not for metal but for other material..can't see what the black chair's legs are?..

Also..it gives one huge satisfaction to figure out to bring together things and colors that seem less conventional (for whatever reason)

Hard surfaces are different of course, you're much more restricted..here I think you have so much more freedom figuring out your room..textures, lights, art, all of it. The furniture is just a part of the puzzle.

great with black and white accessories.

I think it could work. Do you have room in your bedroom if you don't like it with the other furniture. Will the furniture store allow you to try out the floor model? I have done that before with decor, furniture and rugs. In the end everyone in the house deserves to have something they love and it is a beautiful chair. I covet that safari chair.

Thanks for the insight. We have talked about alternative spaces for the chair if it ends up not working out. It has a bit of a blue hue to it, the color is actually called "licorice".

We too are excited about the safari chair! It hasn't arrived yet so I'm eager to see what the true color of the leather ends up being. But it's from CB2 if anyone is interested! The expat chair.

Thank you. I might just look into it. Problem is I have two dogs, one of which weighs 130lbs. and while a big baby, kind of like have a bull in a china shop. Good luck in your new home. I hope the furniture store will let you try out the licorice chair once you get the safari chair.

the safari chair - first one? does not spell comfort to me.

I'd buy a second safari chair and then work in the black one.

Love the linen couch and safari chair as a grouping. Very cool pieces! I'd divide the room up adding two club chairs for people to enjoy sitting in. Something with a lamp next to it.
