Do I need a bathtub?

We are in the process of remodeling our house. We live in the country, pretty traditional style. We are adding a main floor bath right off the kitchen, and are leaning towards a nice tiled larger shower and no tub. I mean, is that a design faux paus? Honestly we are shower people, also not worried about resale as planning on living here a long time - I just don't want it to be weird. Thanks!

Hi Jericksen, Congrats on your remodel. You asked one of the most popular questions here on Houzz's Design and Dilemma. Since (1) you are shower people (2) you already have a tub in another bathroom and (3) you don't have to worry about resale -- you should definitely consider a nice tiled larger shower with no tub. :)

Do you have a tub in another bath? If yes I think you are fine with shower only in the new bath.

Sorry I should have clarified- we do have a bathtub in our upstairs bath!

It's not weird at all. When we remodeled our master bath, we chose shower only

Please do as you wish in your home. If you have a guest who desperately loves baths, just warn them there isn't one - or that there is one upstairs. That is the only consideration you need to worry about.

Not weird at all. Certainly if you have another bathroom with bath. Just go for a convenient shower room and make it stunning and lovely. Good luck

You have the exact same dilemma that we do. In our bath remodels, we decided to leave the bathtub upstairs and remove the tub in the master bath and opt for the bigger shower. We haven't finished the bath remodel yet but feel it is the right choice.

Hi Jericksen, by the way, you have almost the exact dilemma as pb2852's and my own remodel -- like pb2852, I also decided to remove the tub in the master bath and installed a big walk-in shower, and kept the tub+shower in the guest bathroom. :)
