Week 147 - OT - Give us 3 of your favorite movies about food.

Since most are on summer vacation, I figured we'll take a quick break from construction topics to food.

What are some of your favorite movie about food/cooking and why?

1) I loved Chocolat. Who doesn't love chocolate? It showed chocolate in such loving details to the point of sensuality. Vianne's kitchen is so homey.

2) Ratatouille. Even a rat can have a love affair with cooking. It shows how the senses can be used to elevate a simple thing into something that feeds the soul as well as the body.

In looking for the apartment's kitchen, I never realized that he only had a sink and cooked on a hot plate.

3) Jiro dreams of sushi. A chef's obsession of perfection and beyond in his forced career.

His kitchen is so small that some of the sous chefs do pre prep sitting in the hallway.

Chef. Our local country club did a Cinema Dinner, where we were served the same food we were seeing on the screen (more or less). Tons of fun!

Aww, I was going to say Big Night! (I went to high school with the fellow who composed the non-Tony-Bennett original music: when they are eating, the clatter of cutlery is actually a composition!)

Not about food and wine, but when my friend and I watched I'll See You In My Dreams with the lovely Blythe Danner and lovelier Sam Elliott, we got tipsy just watching the women drink wine. Frequently. We thought it would be a good movie to see at home and drink along with Blythe.

Theres an Italian movie where they eat a meal out in the garden, long table, I can't remember e name but I just really want to linger out in the garden over lunch. My Cousin something-or-other?

Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. The visuals are out of this world. Even if you just ate, you will be hungry again.

Julie and Julia Great as a movie, and great food too!

The Hundred Foot Journey I LOVE Indian food!

And, I must include a quirky favorite.
Delicatessen A classic, but dont watch if you're squeamish.

@ann that's funny. We watched Chef last night.

@bpa I tried watching Big Night right now with hubby and he constantly fast forward on movie. I finally told him to watch something else. I think it will be a solo watch for me.

I'll add to "Ratatouille" and "Hundred Foot Journey"! My third is "Julie and Julia".

My bonus round is really more drinking than eating but "A Good Year" must have sold a LOT of small vinter wines and maybe French (or French-like) property.

great, now I'm hungry AND thirsty lol!

I like Babette's Feast but the food didn't make me hungry. The ingredients were too esoteric for me.

It isn't a movie but a series of documentary movies, Chef's Table France. Really fun to watch and see how the minds of great French chefs work. The food look sublime.
