Hi there. I love your tiles and have used a similar pattern in a clients house just recently. Beautiful! Here are some thoughts Keep in mind the placement of your floor tiles. There is a lot of movement once they are laid next to each other. Gets some layout options from your tile pro before he does anything permanent to make sure your floor doesn't get too busy for you. In my opinion, since the tiles will be a strong design element, cherry will offer a great balance. The wood is richer than birch and will look great. Are you prepared for the color change from Brazilian Cherry? If you use a number of rugs you should have a discussion with your flooring supplier about color changes. I happen to have hand scraped wood floors and love them. They can't be refinished though or the machine will take down the texture. There is a solution for that and it's to get a good quality product. The finishes put on mid range and higher wood floors today are really strong. So no entry level flooring for hand scraped. Using one continuous floor material is a good choice. It will open up the rooms and look more up to date. Have you looked at bamboo? It wears like iron and is avaliable in a million finishes. For color, I'd suggest you keep to a shade that compliments the furniture (Cherry/Mahogany) but lighter. Another idea would be to introduce something different. Shades of Gray for wood, Honey bamboo, or even cork might be a good choice.

Laminate wood flooring would be a great option, very durable
