shower door leakage-Caulk or silicone?

Our upstairs shower was intermittently leaking. We called the plumber and told us it's not the plumbing but our shower doors. Told us to remove doors ,clean out all caulking/silicone and reinstall w/caulking not silicone under frame rails and not to caulk against frames inside and outside tub. Not sure if this is correct procedure, so reaching out for advice. Below are pictures of shower frame and Silicone we thought of using to reinstall. We removed doors/frame and took off all caulk/silicone and temporary put back until we figure it out. We're not using shower now. Thanks for input.
