May I get some design/layout ideas for living room and 2nd bedroom?

Hello everyone,

Below you will see the floor plan for my condo that is still under construction. Here is what I am thinking as far as layout goes. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions. I don't plan on having room mates or guests so the second bed room is basically going to be my entertainment (gaming/computer) room. The "Media" in living room is going to be a TV/Speaker system.

For living room couch: wondering if I should go with a chaise or simple 3 seater? If chaise, should it be left or right)

For bedroom couch: is this a bad idea? Is there any other piece of furniture I can put there instead?

I think my floor plan is really basic/generic, but if anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them.

Thank you so much.

    1) great that just you are living there, but will you ever have guests? it would be nice if there were at least one chair where a person could sit to chat with the person on the couch.

    2) you could look for a futon or daybed for the bedroom, which would be easily convertible if you ever have guests. of course, if that's really unlikely then it's not such a crisis to have a friend sleep on the couch, but get a comfy one!

Hi Imran, I'm a storage fanatic. I don't know if you live alone or with someone, but it seems that your kitchen doesn't have a pantry. I don't see linen closet either. Where do you store your vacuum cleaner, broom, ironing board and iron, suitcases, etc?

An earlier comment suggested ditching the bathtub in the master bath for a bigger laundry room with side-by-side washer and dryer. If you decide to enlarge the laundry room, keep the stacked w & d and use the rest of the room for miscellaneous storage.

As for design, I don't see a dining space. Do you want one? And, the "room" with the desk off the living area,

Also, I suggest the 2nd bedroom become your media room/office/guestroom. It sounds like that's too many for that room to handle, but it's very possible without making it look cluttered or overwhelmed.

If you are interested in know more. Let me know and I'll provide some details.

I also noted a lack of dining space. No biggy if you don't do dinner parties. But something to mention.

I'd make the couch in the TV a pullout for when you have family stay overnight.

Is there a coat closet? Or broom closet?

I like the desk tucked away in the far corner. And I like keeping the game computer out of the main space.

    Thanks all for the replies.

The floorplan/construction was already done by the seller, so I didn't have a say in the bathroom unfortunately.

There are pantries and closets - just missing in the floorplan :)

As for dining area - this is a good point.. I was thinking of just using the island for dining area for now since it's just me... maybe replacing the "media" area with a dining table instead? I was actually hoping to shy away from a TV in living room altogether.. so it could work!

Thank you for all the suggestions.
