if it absorbs water, it needs to be sealed. very few granites are that dense to repel sealers. Absolute Black is one of the few.

if it's true granite and not a quartzite or marble, it's durable like any other granite.

Nobody is going to mistake it for black, but it is a reasonably dark gray. Here it is in our kitchen:

My parents have it in their kitchen and they seem happy with it, both in durability and appearance.

Thank you for the picture Matt. This may be exactly what we are looking for. We were looking for something dark without being solid black. Something that doesn't have a lot of movement. We were considering uba tuba but it runs toward green.

I don't know anything about it, but just wanted to say I sure like how it looks. As Matt said, dark but not black, a very soft charcoal it seems to me. Would you be getting a polished or matte finish?

Oh, wow. I'm generally a quartz-only fan, but that is gorgeous.
