I am looking for ideas on how to make this room less formal. My plan so far is to change out the chandelier, get rid of the rug, change out artwork, mirror,, paint the walls a lighter color, possibly add drapes. What could I do with the furniture? Slip cover the chairs? Replace the chairs entirely? I am hesitant to paint the furniture as it was very expensive. If there is no way to accomplish a less formal look with the current furniture, I am willing to replace furniture as a last resort.
