Swedish dining rooms use a lot of painted furniture. I think it's going to depend on the individual pieces. It's hard to tell by this pictures, but it looks like the rug and furniture should be rotated so the fringe is facing the other walls.

I think one painted piece with a sideboard in the same tone as your table may be a good combination.

What does your painted piece look like? What color is it? Do you have anything in mind for your sideboard?

Attached is a picture of the piece that I have which will be going in the room. It will be repainted so I am open to ideas! As far as a sideboard, I again am open to ideas. I would say my "style" is more casual and comfortable than formal. Thanks!!

Are there any colors in your rug that you love?

The rug has deep red, blues, green & cream. I have a matching rug in my living room where we accented with the red, so I would like to stay away from that but could consider the other colors or complimenting colors.

cfarfour, I love that piece. Where is it from? Asking as I have been looking for something along those lines, and that size. As to your question, I think it would look nice in your space.

cfarfour - wow - good find! I scout CL now and then and so far have not found anything that works for me. But that one is a nice one!! Henredon is good stuff.
