Dany, without seeing the art you want to put on your walls, I find it hard to make any kind of decision on rug or accent chairs. You could go any number of ways, but I really would look for art to place over the fireplace and on the open wall to its left. I think that would give you a real direction for the room. I've picked three modern works below at random -- do you see how each could give the room a different feeling, and affect your ideas about colour and style of rug and chair?

The shapes are rough suggestions for size and shape of art. To the right of the TV I think it would be good to use something vertical other than a painting, perhaps, such as a wooden piece.

The rug is much too small. It has to be wide enough to place at least part of the chair on it and to give more coverage on the right, and it should also be longer. This looks skimpy instead of giving the room a rich and dramatic look. The room looks off-balance now. Another smaller chair on the right would help, also small table(s) flanking the sofa (perhaps glass and metal) and something next to the large chair. What about table lamps? The room right now looks very underfurnished instead of welcoming and warm. Art in warm colors would really help this room, in which you've made a good start.

Thank you all for your comments/suggestions. I am going to find a new rug , and chairs which wont change and idea is change seasonallh pillows and throws to bring colors and change to the room. I was thinking to buy wall art last, as it is not hard to find multicolor abstract wall art . Accents chairs and rugs r big confusion and that's why iam here. Abstracts in various colours aren't hard to find, but art that speaks to your heart, mind and soul can be. However, if that's not what you're going for, I think you have a vast choice of rugs that would work.

Anyway, that one would be a very conservative choice, but not boring, that would allow you a lot of free reign with your chairs. My inclination for a carpet like this, i.e. picking up the black, would be to then tie the chair colour in with the fireplace, i.e. a creamy beige, and use throw pillows on the chairs and sofa in a mix of the grey of the accent chair, possibly black for the chairs and creamy beige for the sofa, and yes, whatever colours you like, then you can find whatever you want to put on the walls. Or vice versa.

More importantly I suggest you get a real showpiece of a coffee table. I actually tried posting one for you this morning but again it didn't work. All very frustrating. I mean that level of showpiece. If your art is to be more generic, then this is a good place to express an aesthetic personality of your own as there are some gorgeous coffee tables out there.

Take a look at this, it certainly would liven the room and meets all your wishes. I agree you'll need a new coffee table as that one is too ordinary for your style.

@beverlyFLADeziner , i like the way to superimpose the pictures and show it on my livingroom. It helps me visualize better. I like the third rug, but not sure whether it is too bold for me

@Groveraxle you completelty changed my vision for this room. I should say , i would have never envisioned that rug/chair in my room , but once you put it i can see how they all come together with that nice wall art.
