Kind of OT: Mr. Moses, do any forum members live near you?

I know you don't take pictures of your roses and have no desire to acquire the fancy gadgets required to do so. I don't blame you one bit. I love reading your posts, your advice is valuable and sensible, and I love reading about the roses you grow. Your descriptions are so good, I almost don't need a photo to "see" your roses. I sure would like to, though:) I'm curious as to if you would be open to another forum member coming over once, and taking some pictures? I don't even know if there is someone nearby, or if you would be open to the idea. It's totally not necessary, but I bet I'm not the only one that would love to see your roses. Believe me, if I lived nearby we would probably already be friends, and I would take the pictures myself.(With your permission, of course.) What do you think of the idea, Mr. Moses? Anyone nearby? It's just a thought, and forgive me if I'm sounding "pushy". That's not my intention, and I totally understand if you'd rather not. Lisa

    Lisa,

You are not presumptive at all. I am honored someone wants to see what I grow.

There don't seem to be any local Roses Forum members. I would be thrilled to have anyone visit my garden and take photos.

My rose bed is 8' X 18', kind of small. If you turn around too fast, you will bump into yourself. It is packed with roses, nothing else. You won't see hundreds of roses, about 50 bushes. A dozen of them are minis, in case anyone thinks things are overcrowded.

My roses grow best when they are touching each other. They need the contact for their emotional well being.....just kidding!

There are three climbers. The only OGR is Madame Isaac Perreire. The rest are HTs, Grandifloras, and Floribundas, with a few Minifloras. They gotta' be fragrant to stay.

I live across the street from an old Civil War hospital (It's been upgraded since then!), Western Pennsylvania Hospital, in Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's Little Italy. If this rings a bell with any camera wielding Roses Forum folks let me know.

Oh good! I'm so glad you don't feel intruded upon by my suggestion. I really hope someone is near enough to come take some pictures. You never know, there are many people who love roses and read this forum faithfully. They just don't post any comments or questions. So there could be someone nearby that you don't know about.......yet!!! Anyone out there? Could this be you? :) Lisa

Oh oh man ! I used to live in Pittsburgh and would have happily been the one !! I'm from the oakmont area , grew up in Cheswick . Not far from Moses at all! But it's been 5 years or so now . If I still lived there I'd grab a small " oakmonter" cake from the famous oakmont bakery and be your paparazzi for the day ! :)

totally not related but I dearly miss eat n park smiley cookies and homemade church sale pirogies . Do you have a favorite Pittsburgh food Moses? You never know just what you'll miss the most when you move away. :)

Well Lilyfinch, he did say there was no time limit on the open invitation. Do you still have family back there? If no one else is nearby, and you DO have family back there, maybe you will go back to visit sometime. Of course the winter time wouldn't be so good:) I wish I was a neighbor to Mr. Moses. Well, except for the winters. Lisa
