Deciding between chairs: Get Rid of Orange or Return 2nd Green?

Hey everyone!

So I've been getting furniture in preparation for a move next month.

I've been aiming for the mid-century theme with some industrial touches in the lighting and other accessories. Blue and green are the main colors.

My sofa is blue (a pillow from it is below). I found the green chair below on this site. I ordered two of them, with the intention of getting rid of the orange chair I already have.

When I got them, I opened one and sat it next to the orange chair and I didn't hate it.

I feel like they fit the design, but I'm unsure about the colors. On one hand, I kind of feel like the orange chair would make things too bright and childish. On the other, I feel like it could keep everything from being too matchy.

Help?

Thanks!

KJ

I would wait until you move in. The colors could look completely different in the final setting.

We need to see the style of the sofa to make an informed opinion.

the sofa is still in plastic in my basement lol but i have a picture of it from the site

I'm really liking the lines of your blue sofa - however, I feel the visual heaviness of the new green chairs do not really compliment the sofa. See how the green chairs look boxy and a bit clunky if placed next to your sofa will has tapered arms and legs? I think you can do better.

Funny, your old orange leather chair does work with the lines, and color, of your new blue sofa!

What do the legs look like on the new green chair?

I would recover your leather chairs in a light gray....they are a great design and will work well with your new sofa....this is one of my fav mid century modern spaces...thought you might be inspired! Bring color in the space with vibrant drapes and art!

@darzy the legs on the green chair are angled as well

ok so seems like wait till you can get your furniture in the room all together.............then you will know what you like and what to do.

    Best.

@visualizemaven I'm new to interior design lingo lol what do you mean by "lines"?
I do like the orange chair with the sofa, I'm just a bit over the color though..

Hi, the yellow chair might complement the blue sofas. Might as well wait until it was delivered :)

Kevin just recover them..they are really nice and match the style mix you want to create...could be a light gray leather or deep purple velvet would look great! Purple and Navy Blue are a very strong combination..looks great mixed with gold metal accents..

the two colors are fabulous together.

I vote two green chairs. Hang on to the orange chair though. Can you use it in a bedroom or office area? When you get toss pillows for the sofa, etc be sure to add interest with a pattern and texture.

Kevin, is this photo something like your're going for? The blue sofa and chartreuse green chairs? I like this look.

Hi all...how come I cannot insert a Houzz Photo anymore? I'll put the link in (as I've done many times before) but now it won't "submit". grrrr

Hi again...this is the sofa that Kevin already has. The chartreuse chairs I think will look great with this sofa. What ya'll think?

This chair you have is a Chartreuse for sure not green...

your sofa is more like a light royal blue.

I love the green/chartreuse chairs with the blue sofa! Then like Darzy said, add throw pillows with a bit of each color. Nice style

Agree that the chairs are Chartreuse, but the pillow from the sofa on my monitor looks closer to Navy. Are we seeing the colors correctly, Kevin?

Thank you all for the responses!!!

The chairs are chartreuse. In person, I've just been saying green because... I'm lazy lol The sofa... I've been saying it's more like a blue denim. It's not as bright in person.

Darzy pulled up the exact inspiration image that started this off.

So far, I do have these two pillows

I love the color palate you have chosen, Kevin! Save the orange chair for another room.

If this is your inspiration..you need to keep your pillows very minimal and simple your pillows are to trendy..keep the pillows simple add light silver/gray..and chrome into the space.

i have a solid gray pillow i can use in place of the blue/green one.

for the chrome- i was thinking of painting either the legs on the chairs or the two end tables I got like the before/after photo

I think I would add the simple mid century style end tables but keep them as is in the wood tone...add chrome in lamps and picture frames..I would not spray paint anything...

Hey everyone! Just wanted to give a move-in update.
For now, The orange chair is with my mom. I have a second bedroom/office where I might use it (it's basically where I'm hiding everything I haven't unpacked right now).
I painted the trunk (originally, an ugly green) and lamps (black).
That picture (from the 70s/inspired the mid century style choice) may go on another wall. I still have to find curtains to go over those vertical blinds...

Kevin the colors are not working with the red/orange brick wall:(

I would bring in orange chair will work so much better with the brick wall...this color combo really is not working...your art frame is not mid century style...I would change up the frame.

I think when we all made suggestions it was based on a painted room not brick...that really changes the entire feel of the space and look of the furniture..can you bring in the orange chair.? I would change out the chair no question....the art is to small for that wall and is hung to high....the middle of the art should be hung at around 62” from the floor...we are here to help and would really like to help pull it all together..
