Heat n glow fireplace - shallow vs deep, fan vs no fan

Hello, we are building and the standard model heat n glow fireplace is a 16”deep slimline 7 model.

We are wondering if we should upgrade to the 7x, which is still 16”deep but has a faux brick backdrop and a fan - Or should we go for one of the 22”deep models.

These will require an upgrade costing thousands of dollars. However, the depth cannot be changed once the fireplace is built, so we have to decide now.

We have a woodburning fireplace in our current house, which we seldom use ... so we are wondering if the upgrade would be worth the extra $$$. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The fan issue is whether you will turn it on in order to heat the room. I have one in a guest bedroom and some of my guests have C-pap machines and like the bedroom warmer than how I like to sleep (cool). So they use the fan in the fireplace to help keep the room warm while they sleep.

We have a Heat n Glow in our family room. I think its about 16" deep with the brick back. It can have a fan but we didn't get one. This one puts out a lot of heat. We had wood burning in our prior house. I am much more likely to use the Heat n Glow where with a push of a button, I can take the chill off in the morning. This is a large open concept area where we spend most of our time. We almost never use our central heat, but we live in coastal San Diego, so not that cold. I don't miss the wood pile or the spiders.
