Blue wall against mirrored wall in dining room?

My house has beige walls all over with cream trim. I am thinking about going with a blue wall in dining room. One wall of room is fully mirrored, another wall has open doorway to kitchen, third wall has french doors to small atrium/patio that brings in some natural light. Fourth side is open to living room. I would only need to cover two walls - one leading to kitchen and one leading to patio. Just saw a Benjamin Moore paint chip for Van Deusen Blue HC-156 - should I?

I have a very simple light pine rectangular table with four light pine veneer MCM/Danish looking chairs with metal legs, and a blue patterned runner down the center with white candles, silver camel figurines (inherited from Great-Grandma) and white star shaped salt-n-pepper shakers. I have very little decorating sense, so I need help! I'm including a couple of pictures of dining room without furniture so you can see a bit of what I'm dealing with...

I would remove that mirror wall. I know it makes it look bigger, but it's...well tacky I suppose is the best word for it. It would make me feel like I was eating in a ballet studio.

Blue worries me because your floors are very yellow. Putting blue in would probably highlight that. There's no harm in trying some paint samples though to see what you think.

Posting the pictures of the furniture and current decor you have (even if it's not in the room yet) would be helpful too.

Ha ha! I did briefly consider putting in a barre and turning living room into dining room instead. neighbors with similar floor plans have said mirror-removal is absolute nightmare, and I'm not up for nightmares, so I'll have to figure a design workaround instead. very helpful comment about blue paint and yellow floors- good point! Thank you , Sina Sadeddin!

I would definitely be afraid of pairing blue paint with the orange tones that exist in your flooring. Can you have the mirror professionally removed?

Though I'm not a fan of mirrors - I think your room is beautiful. It sounds as if your furniture is modern -ish and in my opinion emphasizing the modern elements would look best. Keep the color scheme as simple as possible. As for the mirror - is there space for items in front of it - narrow tables (slim tables that are 18" wide) or plants? There are also vinyl cut outs that may stick to the glass - I don't know - but I've googled them and there are so many....I think as long as anything you use is simple - not ornate - clean lines - organic forms - it should look ok. Or maybe if you felt you needed to - suspend a curtain from the ceiling - well suspend the curtain rod.

I would be afraid of blue walls with your floor tones. Although I love the mirror wall with nothing in the room because it makes it look bigger I have a feeling if you had you furniture in there and instead it was a reflection of all that the illusion would be gone. I'm on the removing the mirrors boat, in the scheme of home nightmare projects I don't think removing the mirrors would make it high up the list. Good luck with whatever you decide!

The room needs a rug. Buy the rug first and choose a color from the rug. You have not mentioned how you feel about your flooring. If you don't hate the color then I don't see why you can't have blue walls. Two images I found online.

I might use a lighter shade because of your taste in furniture.

My current home had double the mirrors of yours. I bit the bullet and had them professionally removed. How much damage it will do to the underlying wall is anyone’s guess. Mine had some damage but I was thrilled with the results.

Be creative........there are other ways to add the color blue to the room. Placing items like art directly on the mirror will help the appearance of the room.

it's only 9.5 feet from mirror wall to patio doors. my chairs and table are about 30 inches from the mirror, and that leaves me a corridor to move from kitchen to living room and also allows the patio door to swing in. I have no room to put buffet or console against mirror and still allow room for chairs and table, plus corridor... it's a tight space, but doable...

OK, then at least think about breaking up the mirror with something that takes up no space. You can also add color at your patio doors without painting.
