We put oak colored laminate in our house and from your photo it looks the same color as your wood floor. But I really love the lighter floor under your wrought iron on the right.

A medium color, like the red oak you are getting rid of, will not show much dirt. Look at colors about the same tone as the crust on French bread. If the floor needs to be waterproof, look at classic sheet vinyl.

I agree with Katinparadise. Don't try to match real wood with fake wood. Even if you can get a good color match, the laminate wil be obvious.

I agree with katinparadise too. We recently toured a home where a fake wood floor butted up against a real wood floor. Ordinarily, I would have like the fake wood floor, but the real wood floor made the fake wood floor look terrible.

I have been thinking about your query and the image that you posted. Is there some logic to where the wood ends? I hate to say this, but if it's all one big space, you might want to replace the wood part too. Or at least some of it...
