Hi Carol, The cabinets are cherry with a natural finish with a black glazing applied. There is no rule of thumb when it comes to the hardwood floor color. Since the wood floors will be throughout your home, you should take into account all the aspects of the home such as trim color, furniture wood tones, fireplace finishes, etc. The stain color applied on these hardwood floors worked well with the family room as well as the rest of the home.
