Does that mean in 94 taps of 100, with there being none in 6?

That'd be some rural people ... who've succeeded in keeping plastic waste far from their wells ... and being sure that flowing water over land or after a rain wouldn't get in?

My old stepuncle was a farmer raising beef and his home, where I've lived for a few years after his death, had a well too close to his barnyard, so when the water was tested prior to being sold after his death it tested bad for e-Coli and coliform, so I've carried jugs of water from the city for drinking for about 15 years.

As there have been no cattle around for almost 20 years, maybe I'd better get the water tested again to see whether it may be part of the 6% clear of miniscule plastic fragments.

Actually, following uncle's wife's death, two years before his, 20 years ago, I'd spent a couple of months with him, for we his friends feared that, as he had bad back, bad hip and bad leg following three replacements of his left hip, feared that he, in his mid 80s, might fall into a snowbank while doing chores with his few remaining cattle and couldn't get out. While I was there, I drank the water, as he did ... and it didn't kill me then ... so probably wouldn't now, though the contamination from the cattle's outflow probably stayed in the ground for a long period.

Plastic fibers could certainly make their way into your water supply. It may have something to do with huge levels of water pollution. However, joyfulguy definitely has a point that we're the most resilient species on the planet.

While I was researching about what you said, it lead me to read about regions with purest water in the world.

It would be interesting to find out the levels of micro-plastic pollution in that tap water. It might be the answer to know if water pollution from one part of the world can make it to another.
