Please help me conquer the poor design of this bathroom.

I have attached a picture. I don’t know what to do with this bathroom. I want to cover the walk in shower. Possibly with a curtain, but then what do I do with the window? Getting walls prepped for painting. Just replaced counter with LG quartz in minuet. Husband says brownish with gray speckled tile stays. . Am thinking BM Windsbreath on walls and BM Van Duesen Blue on vanity. All trim painted with SW Eggshell White. Trim around window will be switched out to craftsman style to better match the house. But what on earth do I do with the window? Privacy is an issue as it faces the driveway and our electric meter person got a surprise when I was spackling the walls whilst sitting on the potty....

Second picture is from the opposite corner. I have a new light fixture on order. Supposed to arrive in 4 weeks. Sigh....

Third picture is also a what should I do with this empty water space???

I don’t think your bathroom is that bad and it has a lot of potential. Regarding the walk in shower, don’t cover it, we have a door like that in our master bath too. They’re common and expected and not (IMO) an eyesore at all. I use the bar to hang a pretty set of hand towels on. Strangely, I also have a window in almost the exact same spot as well as the slat blinds. I would probably get some new ones if those are looking tired, but I like the blinds because I can control lighting with them. I’m getting ready to have a custom valance made for it from a shop on Etsy. The paint colors you’re looking at are pretty. I like the idea of painting the vanity in color and the walls a neutral. Maybe you could do a valance over the window with a fabric that can tie in with the blue in your cabinet. If it were me, I’d hang some open shelving for towels in that nook. It’s the perfect size. I’d leave room at the bottom so I could put a pretty basket there for dirty clothes.

I do have a suggestion for your window, a bit pricey, but so worth it - and that is to install a window with integrated blinds, which means blinds encased between two windows. This is tremendously energy efficient and also perfect for privacy without having to add any other kind of window treatment. We did this for three master bedroom windows, based on strong recommendations from this forum, one of the best decorating decisions I ever made. The blinds never get dirty or dusty, are operated by a tiny lever in the frame (no more cord issues!), and can be adjusted any way you like - pulled up or down, opened to any degree you wish. Incredibly convenient and tidy and privacy is assured.

This would be fairly easy if you are also replacing the frame. Then you could put up a café curtain on a tension rod to add some softness, which is what I have in my two bathrooms. It would fit within the frame.

What do you mean by empty water space? That looks like a good place for a tall cabinet with one or two open shelves. Good for storage and/or display, even if it's small.

Here is one company for blinds, there are many others!

Thank you both for the feedback! I really like the ideas and am loving the suggestion of turning the “water” (wasted) space into a functional storage area. I believe a house almost can’t have too much storage space. And while I do like being able to control the light filtering in, to not dust blinds again would be simply wonderful!

Oops! Hit submit too soon! I am researching those blinds to avoid dusting, they may be expensive, but to not dust blinds is worth a lot in my book.

You could also try window film to keep the surprises down for the meter reader. It's inexpensive, let's light in, but people can't see you. This is a Lowe's link, but many sites sell it. Window Film
