Help choose wall color, rug & curtains

I just Refinished our floor. It’s a dark java color. My sofa is neutral with some gray undertones. The wall was Revere Pewter and I applied a sample of Benjamin Moore’s Thunder. I’m not overly thrilled. I’d like to go with with blues or greens as accent colors. I do not have any artwork yet so I have nothing to pull from. I want to replace the throw pillows on the sofa. I’ve included a close up of the fabric.

Any suggestions are welcome!

Everything is safely one color except for the floor....find a light rug and dark curtain panels to add contrast. Bring in one or two club chairs in a pattern using all colors in room, or a solid contrast color you love and put it in the chair, lamps or lamp shades, pillows and art work.....but think contrast at all levels, from light to dark.

this is just a suggestion room that shows contrast. The curtains pillows and rug all are patterned in same colors in different amounts.....a contrast color from the rug, blue, was used for the pair of chairs....all other accents are black/brown....I do not know if this is a color scheme you would choose but the elements that are contrasting are all items you need to furnish a room: lamps, end table, cocktail table, wall art, cocktail table. rug ,pillows, etc..basically a lot of stuff. One pic or two pics or three pics will not furnish your room....you need ALL of these elements which can be added one thing at a time, you just have to decide where to start.....usually once you decide one thing then future choices are narrowed down and it gets easier. Love what you have done, but you do need to shop! Lucky you.

Adding a rug will make a big difference. It will soften the room and allow you to bring in some colour.

Consider using your rug to set your colour scheme -- one of these, perhaps. I searched Houzz shop for blue and green rugs; there are plenty more. The neutral on the rug you choose could be used to choose your wall colour. And as it happens the cushions Wickedwhite posted would work a treat with all of them. As Susan says, from there you just carry on building the room. I do love the inspiration pic she posted, it tells the story beautifully even if it's not using your favourite colours.

I have worked with Thunder and it decidedly has a green undertone and what is difficult is how it changes from gray to green to brown in certain nautural light. The Revere Pewter is probably the better of the two.

That said I would put a totally different color on the walls, considering the color of your floor.

Laying a lighter rug on the floor will brighten the room.

This is B.M. Silver Half Dollar.

This color…the strongest on your windows…..it will draw the eye up and make your ceilings look taller. R.H. and look for the Perennial trademark for gorgeous ready made draperies.

Can you have curtains on your windows or will that affect the radiator?

I can see a nice console behind your sofa.

I think a colorful rug would look great and then you can pull some colors you like from the colors in the rug.

Will you be using a coffee table in the room?

I think some side tables with some lamps would help disperse the ambient light.

Your room is beautiful. I like the colors of the walls. If you do paint, I would not go for anything too cool. Stay with warmer colors. Even a blue or gray has warm tones to choose from.

I like the blues. I think the Revere Pewter is nicer than the thunder. You could also go lighter.

Choose your rug first. You can then pull an accent colour from it. Sounds like you want to look for something with a touch of blue/green in it. A white background will lighten the room. Make sure it also has a touch of greige in it to tie in your sofa.
