Comments (10)To me, the biggest problem I see is that you have all the furniture lined up against the wall and are losing your actual ability to converse. The easiest way I have found to set up conversation areas (and I am definitely not a pro at this) is to imagine a roughly 8'-10' diameter circle and place the furniture "around" it. Much further than that and people begin to feel a need to raise voices in order to be heard. As for the nook area, again, circle the furniture so that you don't feel your walking into a store display. In an area the size of yours, you could easily have 3 different conversation areas of varying sizes which would make the room feel cozier and more conducive to conversation. Include your fireplace in the largest circle with your sofa opposite the FP. Perhaps mixing some of the new furniture into the living area and placing some of the living area furniture in the nook would make the styles seem more purposeful and help them blend more easily together. Hopefully, this will get some ideas going and I'm sure others will be able to give you some great suggestions as well....See MorePH Interiors, LLC
