depends on the layout of the kitchen. generally, you don't want tall cabinets (pantry, wall ovens, etc.) breaking up a useful stretch of counter if they can be grouped (e.g., next to the refrigerator). think of it as a wall you have to work around if you're using the counters on either side for prep, or moving things from sink to stove, etc.

Thanks.. Counter space not a problem. Just wonder if it will look okay with it being 24" deep and wall cabinets next to both side being only 12" deep.

Can you post a picture of the proposed idea? That's really the only way we can tell.

Why would you want to do this? It can't be near other food storage if it's in the middle of a space. Maybe if you're deliberately dividing two sectors of a kosher kitchen, but honestly, I can't picture an arrangement where it wouldn't look odd.

Initial searches gave me mostly bathroom settings with a storage tower between two sinks, but here is one I found in Advice:

Many times this kind of pantry is a great way to off-set the visual weight of the refrigerator to create balance in a kitchen layout.

I agree this really does not make sense design wise. We need some pics if you really want help. I personally like pullout pantries in a wall with counter depth fridge and maybe wall ovens depending on the kitchen no a pantry cabinet pluncked in the middle of a run of wall cabinets.
