Vote for hallway paint color (pic included) PLEASE

So I need to pick THE paint for my foyer/hallway/entryway and likely some other rooms that need refreshing.

Lovely tonal wallpaper (25 years up) is needing to come down.

We will be putting the house on the market within the next few months. Whew I said it definitively.

So of course, wanting everything to look lovely and fresh and appealing-----the painting is definitely something which needs to be done.

The first floor instead of the carpet has a white/gray tile. I am big on white trim.

Can you have a look at these and please let me know your thoughts?

Left to right

1-Accessible Beige 2- Grecian Ivory 3- China Doll 4- Egret White 5-Maison Blanche

6-Popular Gray 7- Modern Gray

Under those are 8- BM Muslin 9- Behr Raffia 10- BM Ceamy White

Unless specified the paints are Sherwin Williams..

I really cannot decide and would be ever so grateful for your opinions.

The foyer is north facing....... bless you and thank you. eternally grateful

    a) China Doll or Maison Blanche look on my monitor as the ones that compliment the carpet the best. But. You mention the tile, and it's not on the pics, so seeing it might very well change my answer. Grecian Ivory seems a lovely color

    b) does it have to be painted? lol. I just like your wallpaper..

Hi April- those are the ones that look good to me as well. I will try to get a photo of the tile as well. (so hard to set up my photo shoot:). I love the wallpaper but there are some serious marks and seams pulling apart etc etc. It really lasted very well as we are not gentle people and have moved furniture up and down etc etc. so YES it does have to come down. I have tried to figure out ways to even leave some of it but the truth is it has been up for 25 ish years and as great as wallpaper is, things do show wear.

thank you for your comment. Here is with the tile..... upstairs with carpet looked true, this I am not sure about lighting. Still think the same ones?

I would avoid grays because that trend has been around so long that it's probably on its way out and it might make a hallway look gloomy. With white tile, on the other hand, I would choose something with cool undertones so that the walls don't look dingy in comparison to the white tile. I'm afraid I'm not much help but the samples are so small that it's difficult to tell what would be right. There are people here, though, who are great with picking out colors. I'm just not one of them.

I didn’t read color names but whichever is the lightest. Also don’t sweat it as there’s a better than 50/50 chance new owner might change it anyway so decision s/b about your enjoyment these last few months

    China Doll wins

Maison Blanche is a runner up..light and all..complex neutrals tend to change like crazy

    In different lighting.

Sorry, I posted the wrong shade. i corrected the pictures above. I originally accidentally had the next shade darker posted in a photo. I though it looked too dark for the Divine White and it was.

I checked my bag full of samples and I do not seem to have SW Divine White. Thank you for suggesting- it does look lovely but looking at the photos maybe it might be too light?

I do feel comfortable that my top choices (china doll - maison blanche and grecian ivory) came across and were recommended by those who commented.....I particularly love that yaya is certain that China Doll is the one.

Yes I agree that likely the new people will repaint or whatever but I would like to enhance what is there already. I know when I look at houses I am fine about repainting and kind of expect to do so, but it's different when it appears jarring and you must repaint asap as opposed to getting it the way you like.

Still open to suggestions- will try to get to SW ( of course my office was really close to one but we just moved offices and there is not one nearby that I am aware of-_ to get a sample of the divine white.... I will be asking more for a few other rooms as well. Maybe not paint but curtains and runner etc etc. I so appreciate this sounding board forum.

Try SW- Sandbar with Creamy for the trim!

Sandbar is also a lovely color but I think too deep......but could work in my husband 's office.... thank you again.

My daughter used Grecian Ivory throughout her cottage. Trim is white (Divine, Icing). Gorgeous results. Most of her natural light comes from the West, but each room in the house has good natural light.

JudyG= now you have me second guessing after all, it was one of the top 3 picks:). As I said it is north facing and not much light- do you think Grecian Ivory would work well there?

(and maybe I will consider for a different room---I do have a west facing room that might need refreshing._

    I think it will work.

However, I just finished up a client’s cottage and chose B.M. Gentle Cream for a North facing room. I very much like the results.

I have Clay Beige BM in my entry & living space. I LOVE it!! Very light & airy.

I would go lighter. Something that goes with beige without being beige beige. If the house is going on the market some younger people are turned off by beige. They view it as 2006. The trend seems to be moving into off whites. Don't know how much but I'm noticing it a lot in decor mags. Pretend you are showing to 30 somethings.

You know you've been majoring in paint colors when you have the chips of most of the ones suggested. BM Gentle Cream is lovely and was a strong contender as well until the primary eliminations as was BM Clay Beige and BM Muslin. The Clay Beige was a tad too dark or gray in my lighting but is definitely a lovely color.

The painter we are using uses Sherwin Williams and while I know they can match to BM paints, I was trying to just stick with SW paints for simplicity's sake.

Justerrilynn- I totally get what you are saying and for that reason entertained gray or greiges but they really don't do it for me. I too have noticed a lot of the off whites but so far they really don't call my name. With that, I am trying to go with a nice warm but light beige. One of the 12 or so mentioned here.

Hoping to finalize my decision this weekend. As you can see, I really can agonize easily over these. Still China Doll and Maison Blance and Grecian Ivory seem to be the front runners.. (going to yank out my BM samples as well just to torture myself.)

Gentle Cream is not beige. It is an OC color (off white).

    sheilaaus- and the winner is....

I have been quite under the weather and have continued to agonize over the choices.

I will be reaching out tot he painter this week and am pretty inclined to go with 3-China Doll for the hallways/entryway. I think for other rooms which do have the same carpet, I am inclined to go with 7-Modern Gray.or 4 Egret White.

When I look at realtor listings, I am noticing that although I say I am not a gray person at all, that the gray rooms do seem so fresh and new. So I think that's what making me think i fI am repainting I might as well make it fresh and updated looking.

I am so nervous about this- the reality of actually doing this to get the house ready for market and actually putting it on the market is hitting me hard.
