DD bought herself a nice shiny set of stainless steel cookware on Black Friday. She sprayed a skillet with an olive oil spray and it left it with a brown residue up the side of the pan. She's tried BarKeepers Friend and a nylon scrubby sponge, but to no avail.

Before I give her a Chore Boy "specially treated terry cloth with extra scrubbing power" and an SOS pad, do you have other less abrasive suggestions? I was also going to suggest soaking it over night with dishwasher detergent, but seeing as how the residue is up the side of the skillet, I'm not sure that will be as helpful as if it was on the bottom of the pan.
