Do you like these related colors?

Foyer (16 X 15 faces N): BM Westminister Gold #200

LR ( 15 X 28) and DR (15 X 12) Both face S: BM Barley #199. Alternative is BM Cornsilk #198

9' ceilings; heavy crown; 4" casings; 6" baseboard in Linen White. 12' archways between these three rooms.

Stairwall would be #200. There is an 18' hall to bedrooms off the foyer. What to paint that? (Maybe cut the #200 to a lighter shade?)

Your post gives us paint color #’s. That means we have to look them up; cut and paste. Why don’t you do that for us and then we will give our opinions.

Judy -- I'm sorry, but I have very limited electronic knowledge -- as in none. I thought that asking about three BM paint colors was not excessive. I will sign up for instruction at our Senior Center.

It's -35 Celsius outside so I'm delighted to find indoor projects : )

chisue, they all seem to play very well together : ) . Without seeing a floorplan to see how the different rooms are connected to each other, I'd probably pick #200 for the hall off the foyer.

Thank you so much! When I got the color boards of these I decided to do all three rooms in the "Barley". The painter says the Foyer will *look* deeper/darker because it is North, while the LR and DR are South. I have a 'Hershey Bar Wrapper' (my name) glossy brown in the North-facing Library (door off the Foyer), but it has a tall arch top window.

Now...presuming to take further advantage...I am stuck on wall color for the bathroom (7 X 7) off the Library. Floor is typical white marble w/light and dark grey. The color board of "Shoreline" BM #1471 looks like wet cement; I need something lighter:

    "Cloud Cover" "BM #855 ?

    "Oxford White" BM #869 ?

Yes, that's what I'd expect. In our new house I needed two different shades of green in two rooms opposite each other, because one faced south and the other north.

Aside from the fact that I'm not very familiar with grays and whites (whites generally limited to ceilings and trim, and the only gray in my life in my kids' new bedrooms, Revere Pewter, the only one we could agree on because it was warmer and didn't look like concrete or a battleship, and I could never live in those rooms), I think this one may need to be decided with a tester can in your bathroom, or at least one of the larger (2' square I think) swatches. I think this would be so dependent on the room, its finishings (like the floor), and the lighting. Going just from my screen, I'd think Shoreline would be light enough, but based on what you see in real life, obviously not.

Does the color need to work with Linen White trim?

PS meant to add the glossy brown library sounds fab!

Whoops! Never mind. I found an Atrium White BM #PM-13. The painter added 50% more pigment to it. Nice for the Library Bathroom with white/grey marble.

Last remaining color to choose is MBR - SW exposures.

SW #6332 "Coral Island" -- Can look a bit purple. Makes 'a statement' at the end of the BR hall, which will be "Barley" .

BM #HC-53 "Hathaway Peach" -- Much lighter tone. I liked a peach MBR in another house.

I am trying to get this done while also packing to leave town. Doesn't help that we are living in Arctic temperatures here! You, too?

Arctic here too. I'm sorry I complained yesterday about -35 C, since it's -37 today. Argh. Stay warm!

About 15 years ago we painted the hallway in our current house a lovely golden yellow, similar to the Westminster Gold above. What I didn't take into account before I chose the paint (and we bought it and put it on the walls) is that the two bedrooms at the end of the hall which open onto the hallway west-facing windows. So at the end of every day, the setting sun turned the hallway orange. Not exactly what I was going for, sigh.

So something to consider for these bedroom colors. I would definitely want to see a good-size swatch on the wall at all times of day.

What does your bedroom look like -- furniture, windows, etc.?

What would I do without you?

I promise to learn how to post photos -- resolution for 2018! Happy New Year, one and all!

    I'm still torn about the MBR -- 16' X 19', West bay 120" w X 68" h; South windows 88" w X 68" h. LOTS of light in this house.

I don't think I can care how this room looks with the "Barley" in the BR hall. It just needs to blend with BM "Sheraton Beige" HC-57 in the MBA.

The Coral is out -- too purple.

I'm unsure about the 'runner-up' BM "Hathaway Peach" HC-53.

    Now looking at:

BM "Love Story" #1213; "Careless Whispers" #1214; and BM "Cinnamon 'n Spice" #1215. These are all better with the MBA color and the rug than the Peach. Painter can dilute a color on the darker tones if necessary.

I could have the painters do repairs, paint ceiling and trim, then come back after we are home and I have had time to find fabric for roman shades and headboard.

Our painter has been wonderful about providing color boards, but I won't be able to see any of the boards for the three MBR 'maybes' before we leave.

Still in the deep freeze, so you here you go : )

It's great that you can get color boards from your painter. Definitely get as many as you can and let the sun shine on them.

I didn't realize how similar Sheraton Beige and Love Story are until I put them up here! The good news is that SB seems to play well with all three of your new choices.

Just for fun, here's Hathaway Peach again,

Much less chance of a mismatch if you buy/make the shades and any other fabric items (like bedding) before you pick out the paint color for bedroom.

beckysharp -- Helpful to see those four together. I have the "Sheraton Beige" and the "Hathaway Peach" on boards, but not 1213, 1214 and 1215.

powermuffin -- I know you are *right*, and I think this will just have to be a 'come back' paint job. It should be quick: Paint, dry, paint, dry. It may even help with selection to have all the rest of the house done. We can camp out in the guest room for two days.

Tomorrow is packing. Taxi comes at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Now...do not 'stand down' just yet! I have to find some new furniture for the condo, once we settle in out there! Maybe I can find another owner to help me 'learn photos'.

    Find a 12-year-old : ) .

Happy new year, chisue, and enjoy your trip!
