If the windows are original (single pane) doesn't the room bake in the summer...

Good morning. I am brand new to Houzz and I am totally hooked!!! I have a quick question. I have a porch with windows that are so similar . The porch faces the north side of the house and the sun in the afternoon is blinding and so hot in the summer. I love the open look of the room and don't want to cover. Up. The windows with blinds and I don't like curtains. Any suggestions what to do? Thanks
