Sophie, one additional question--our KD said we can save some money if we do the lesser grade of Medallion cabinetry, without losing any functionality (our style, layout, etc would still be the same). He said part of the cabinet would be furniture board, but that it is very high quality and there is a lifetime guarantee. He showed us one of those cabinets, and nothing was visibly different to me (but I'm a layperson!). Thoughts?

Every single KD, if they are being honest and not trying to sell you upgrades, will tell you to pick furniture board boxes for cabinets. And pick MDF doors if you want paint. Or better yet, laminate wrapped MDF. It is far more stable and wears better. I have furniture pieces from the 60’s with laminate tops that are perfect.

Wood Prejudice is encouraged because it parts you from your money. Not because of reality.

Hi Sophie I messaged you about Mid Continent all plywood .. signature series.. dovetail full extension. I know you have said Mid Continent is a no go but they look nice in hickory. I was also looking af Schuler at lowes.. so are you saying plywood boxes are ok? I would like to save a little money for sure.. thanks
