Armchair or accent chair?

Would you use armchairs or accent chairs for this couch? What style and colour? I like contemporary or modern furniture. Also looking for comfort for lounging and watching TV.

Accent chairs are armchairs so not sure what you mean. Maybe you are asking if you need matching chairs which IMO you do not need I would do armchairs in a nice print to go with the sofa, please find some art that works on that wall and move those little guys somewhere else.

Thank you Patricia...I don't know what shape of chairs to get...

    Would this painting be better?

You have a low-back sofa with a lot of wall space. Maybe some type of gallery would be nice. Don't hang anything much higher than about 6" above the sofa. See what Patricia says.

Here's another pic of the room...would you switch the side the sofa is?

Any other angles of the room we can see?

Have you placed a sofa and dining table up against the wall in a room designed as a dining room? All wrong IMO.

Here are some pics....it is an arkward layout. We actually use our family room . We don't dine here. We use the table for tutoring. And the piano is used by my kids. We probably dont usr this room enough because of the weird layout.

I don’t see any room for another piece of furniture....

I can remove the tables and chairs....

It's hard to tell from the photos you've shown, but it looks like it would make more sense to move the table (or have a round table) under the light and put the sofa on the wall where the table is now.

We agree with groveraxle it seems the table would be much more useful under the light and sofa where the table is currently. We are not sure though that you will have room for accent chairs after though.

I agree you should switch the sofa and table. If you remove the swag and place the dining table under it (fixture should be approximately 30" above the table top) it looks like it will be centered under the window, correct? That would look great. It does look like space will still be limited for accent chairs, so please post pictures taken from all angles once you move things around so we get a better perspective. Can't wait to see!

I have moved the couch and the table. Do I have space for accent chairs and how would you place them? The table is not a dining table. It's for tutoring. I could move the table to another room and use that ultimately for accent chairs. Thoughts?

Much better. If you think you need a chair, put one with it's back to the table and an end table/lamp between it and the couch. Otherwise, no chair, just a nice area rug and coffee table/ottoman in front of your couch. If you use an ottoman, it could be used to sit on also.

It does look better. Would it be possible to lower the large picture? I'm no pro, but I believe it should be hung 6-8" above the back of the couch.

You mentioned "comfort for lounging and watching tv." Is there a tv in this room?

Lower the art. If you have some more framed prints, use them with the two over the table to make a gallery wall. Otherwise, just move them together and lower them. I would replace the chandelier with a pendant you can swag over the table for light while doing homework.

Add a rug, a small chair opposite the piano, and a coffee table. If there is a TV here, I assume it's hung on the wall opposite the sofa.

Don't forget the finishing touch: the hound.

Thank you groveraxle...do you know who makes the coffee table in your photo?

Yeah, I think this coffee table is so cool. The top part spins and the bottom part has a drawer.
