Blank rooms in need of help!

Hello! I have these two rooms I am trying to "decorate", how to decide?? Curtains, Faux wood blinds? Coulor scheme is turquoise, gold-ish yellow. I want to pull the rooms in together...as they are open to each other.

Option A ( and this is me thinking, hard) Gold-ish (ok they are from Ikea) curtains with a pattern sheer for the window covers, problem here, what do I put on my walls to kind of break up the repetition in colour?
Option B: Gray light or dark gray, curtains, same white sheer and go for painting with yelllow/blue or gold on the wall?

Maybe I am bring too matching ??

photos bellow of the 2 rooms ad carpet, I have to place.

I would use white window coverings and save the color for your accessories.

Same. Go panels, in a color close to your walls. Make sure they reach the floor. Can be hung higher than the window to take advantage of your ceiling height. (maybe 2/3 of the way between window and ceiling). Will definitely warm the place up, as will some art for the walls. I envision something like this: https://parimastudio.com/

Next - get a large rug that fits under couches and coffee tables. Space also needs a plant.

Last - your dining room lighting fixture is lovely, but needs to be much lower. Should be hung approximately 30 to 34 inches over the table (with an 8 foot ceiling height). If your ceiling is higher than 8 feet, mount the light an additional 3 inches higher for each foot of ceiling.

Your living room already has very cool tones and that rug will make it look cold. I would look for an Oriental rug (which by the way looks great with modern furniture that has turquoise and red tones in it. Definitely curtain panels, probably in white, with a textured pattern but no other colors. Another rug in the dining room, and please make sure that both are large enough so that at least the front legs sit on it in the living room, and that you can pull the chairs all the way back in the dining room and still have them sit on the rug. Large rugs make every room look larger. I would put a tall green plant in the corner in the dining room where you have the flowers, either genuine or a good fake.

Thank-you !!! all the information really helps the decision. Option B, felt more safe, just wanted to expert opinions! Love the art work suggestion, so it's ok to put other colours on the wall? Even when the colours in the room are all the same?
i do have a carpet, in the images...it fits perfectly in the room, again. has the turquoise and gold, same with side table, is light gold.

Oriental rugs...scare me! I see many and they look faded, I am head strong with crisp coulor and symmetry

Your rug is nice. You could also choose one with a little more color. There are many choices other than oriental.

Genuine Oriental rugs in the Kazak or Herat style have brilliant colors, as do the traditional Persians, whereas Oushaks and Peshawar rugs have that faded look. However, it doesn't have to be Oriental. Some of the rugs above are so loud that you can almost see nothing else, although the first two are nice. You seem happy with your choice. Instead of gold accents, lemon yellow or lime green pillows will look great with your furniture. Wall art can be anything you like, and colorful abstract or modern paintings will look great there. Go for original art if you can afford it, it will be much more enriching for you and your rooms in the long run.

It would be most helpful if you could place your rug and show us more pictures. I hope you're also thinking of a carpet for the dining rooms. If the carpet is polypropylene it's easy to clean and you can even taken it outside and hose it off with water.

Actually the carpet, was in a bigger room (Living room), next to the kitchen but thinking to switch because too small for living room.

I like those rugs but what to do with the current rug? I understand I need at least a 9x12 for my Living room (gray couches)

I like your rug at lot! It would totally work in the living room. Agree that textured white/ivory curtains, patterned rug, and lots of gold accents in pillows and art work with a smidge or ochre or brown would warm up the spaces. (For links, these examples are in my relevent Paintings and Rugs Ideabooks.) By the way, shoot for complementary, which is looser and more flexible than matchy matchy.

    Art:

For between the windows if this style appeals to you:

If you're doing a rug in the dining room, then a gold/turquoise rug would look great.

Ingrid, I will look up those styles. They are probably way out of my budget !

housegal200/, I love the first 2 rugs. were you thinking that for the living room? the single photo in the thread with the gray couch. Family room, with turquoise couch... I would bring the current rug into that room....as soon as I can purchase a bigger rug for the Living room..

I'll post her suggestions, cause I've seen them on Houzz.

Mohawk Home's Aqua Fusion rug. This design artistically combines hues of aqua, tan, brown and rust. The unique contemporary watercolor design.

What rug goes with turquoise sofa - shouldn't the rug have the white [instead of creamy/ ivory] to blend with the white units??

Everdebz, yes those are my 2 favorite rugs, although they work great for the family room (turquoise couches) I'm looking to repurpose the one I already have to the dining room because it is a great fit (7x10) and colour scheme. I was hesitant on choosing window curtains, whicj I think I settled on a light gray with white texture sheers...now to work on art work, which some great suggestions are in this post!

As for the new Rug, it needs to be 9x10...for the living room...the gray couches the 7x10 looks a little lost and floats around.

That rug looks great. You just need pillows, lots of art, and curtains. Good luck!

I'm going back to a post about room looking cold - I don't think so - After all, there are 2 turquoise pieces in there!

I think it was confusing cause your initial photos showed the turquoise room - so the rug search is for the 'grey couch' room, yes? about 9 x 10' ?

You also said: "I'm looking to repurpose the one I already have to the dining room." Better post a closer look for everyone... ?!

Everdebz, yes...the post turned confusing because of the carpets being suggested. then I asked what can I use for the other room where I would be moving over the carpet...and would need a new one.
