Rug Help!!! New family room need rug suggestions

I have spent months and hundreds of dollars in return shipping costs trying to find a rug that will look good with the crate and barrel Birch rug. I recently added an addition onto my family room and now have a really large family room that is really open with lots of windows and skylights but I have created two spaces and in one I have the C&B Birch rug and love it but now I am struggling with the other area. I am adding a photo of each room and the rug here. I need a rug that will go in the other room and also a coffee table that will go in front of the loveseat in this room. Thanks in advance for your help!!

This picture is the new room right next to the family room. Ignore the seagrass chairs on the left. Those are not in the room anymore. The rug here is the Alvarez cream rug from C&B but its really too light as that room will get a lot of traffic. It is a little light with the birch rug too. The bar on the right is the pottery barn Lawrence bar that has a pewter top and goes nicely with the charcoal chairs in the family room. Any suggestions? Thank you!!!!

I would never do a rug that was so large the barstoools sit on it since they don’t look like they swivel that rug will be a mess in no time. Maybe just a big cowhide and you need a coffee table and a couple of small armchairs in here insted of that table on the left.

I love that rug! Have you thought about getting the same rug for the other space? Not sure if that is a faux pas or not. Everdebz your links didn't work

K M, love the rug too. Are you able to split up that sectional? In the first pic, If you can I would have both pieces facing each other and the two chairs facing the fireplace and make the room more cohesive.

Thank you!!! I have tried a smaller rug and it didn’t really work. The table and those Seagrams chairs are gone and I had mentioned I am looking for a coffee table. Was thinking to find a rug first. I also ordered a tripod floor lamp for one side of the loveseat and wall sconces where the white round plates are.

Love the idea of splitting the couches too, but will have to wait until Ethan Allen has a major sale to get the two end pieces in place of the corner:))

I would have used one area rug and combined it with a sisal or coco fiber floor mat. You make it too hard when trying to match or coordinate rugs. Why is all the furniture in the bar area lined up against the walls? Doesn't seem conducive for socializing. Either sit at the bar or sit at a lower level, but that counter stool & table set doesn't work in the room.

Yes, the chairs and table on the left are not in the room anymore. Those were from before I had gotten the bar. That room is new and I have just been ordering things to try them out and then returning. I do like the bar but thats really the only thing that I am tied to. I have no rug in there now and am looking for suggestions. I am as far from a designer as you can get. I do not have a good eye for these things, but love reading all the advice here. Such great ideas. Thanks!
