Help me find a chandelier

I would like to replace the ceiling fan in my master bedroom with a beautiful chandelier, but I'm having very hard time finding something that I like, is the right size and shape and color. The room is 20x20 and then there is the window seat that I need a matching light for. I want something round, open, silver tones. The ceilings are vaulted, 12 ft. I've seen the orbs which come in the right size and color, but they seem a little plain. Also, would I do two orbs in the space? Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated. My fall back is to swap the current fan out for another fan. Thank you!

That room is huge the bed is tiny the lamps are way too small and I would correct all those items before finding a chandeleir. Your furniture truly needs an upgrade if you think orbs are too plain.

Thank you for your feedback. The bed is a king and the end tables are 36 inches. The lamps are pretty large as well. You're right, the room is huge, but we have so many slants to our ceilings that height of furniture is an issue. Hard to see in the picture, but the ceiling comes down to just above the headboard. Not sure what else to put in there as we already have a window seat and end of bed bench. Do you think as orb would go well in there? What size would you recommend?

Thank you, but this is more rustic than what I'm looking for.

Thank you! Do you have a source for the first light you suggested? Also, would you do a similar light over the window seat?

That first fixture is probably too large for your room, but you get the idea.

I shop my chandeliers at a resale salvage shop that sells high end stuff. It’s 1/4 the price of new and many times so much better quality

Beverly what size would you recommend for the space? I thought rule of thumb was length plus width in inches which would be 40 inches for my room.

Depending on the shape, it would have to be smaller than the fan diameter.

Your space is lovely! While the room is big, you can definitely do something amazing with it. I love that first light fixture that Beverly suggested - it is tall without being too heavy and overpowering. I would suggest doing something similar over the window seat, but smaller to compliment that area. And if you really want to, you can go big with your headboard and have chests of drawers next to your bed instead of nightstands. But that's totally optional ;-)

I'll also throw in a shameless bit of self promotion....

My "Light Opera" chandelier in a 34" diameter, 5 or 6 light, would be a unique complement to your bedroom. They can be built to any dimension. If you would like further information just let me know through my Houzz Pro page.

cool room. first thing I'd tackle is that ceiling. you need to amp up that baby.

at the very least, give it paint treatment like they/ve done here:

can you do any of these built ins? these are great space savers for sloped ceilings.

i just posted all of these to give you some ideas on ceilings. your space could look amazing w/ceiling treatment and a new light. then I would get a leaded glass inset or even a metal inset, for that arched window. (or stained glass. it sits right over the existing window glass)

remove those little curtains and mini blind and do a nice cellular or roman shade.

Thank you so much Beth! I hadn't even considered doing anything like this to the ceiling. I just made the curtains and the fabric was expensive so they'll be staying, but I like the overlay idea for the arched windows. I never know what to do with those. Appreciate the help!

maybe it's the mini blinds w/the curtains that look off to me. I do like that they add some color and pattern. what if you picked a color in those curtains? hard to tell because your pictures are thumbnail size. maybe a very pale green or blue?

as for the inset glass, I got a leaded glass inset for my bathroom window. had it made on Etsy. If you do a google image of 'arched transom window', you may get some other ideas.

I am currently redecorating my master and ensuite and posted two posts today but could only see one! I'm looking for ideas to pull my room together: rug, window treatment, etc. My bathroom is painted gray and I used magenta accessories and would like to bring a little magenta in the bedroom as well! If you could give me some feedback based on my post that would be great! Thx

    Beth, Where are you located?

Yes Beth, I love your design style and eye. Where are you located? Unfortunately I did hire a designer for this space and paid what seemed like a lot of money for the design. We are DIYers so I've been slowly implementing her plans and still feel the like room is lacking. Frustrating when you pay for something that doesn't work out. I will try taking better pictures and posting. The ceilings are really challendging as they come down so low. When you suggested to pick a color in the curtains do you mean for other blinds or shades? Thank you again for all your help!

kerrstewart,,,so. cal. bedroom design/furniture placement, really isn't my forte. there are many designers are here that I wouldn't attempt to compete with. I mean, I can do colors and styles, but I like more of the 'bones' work.

Jvoconnell,,,for instance,,when I look at your room, I see those ceiling, that if painted, along w/the walls, or clad in wood or TG painted white with new lighting, would transform that space. fabrics and furniture, i'm ok with, but the actual designers are better than I am. When I mentioned your drapes, I was referring to a color on the wall. pick a color from the drapes and paint the walls/sloped walls/ and ceiling. that soft blue one is gorgeous. if your drapes are green, then do a very soft green or a complimentary color.

I don't know what your DIY skill set is, so I don't know if you're up for the wood part. I've done quite a few wood ceilings and while not difficult, they can be tedious and a bit of work. (click on my name and look at the herringbone ceiling we did). If that's too much for you, then look at that pic above w/the blue walls/ceiling and mirrored furniture. You could paint your room like that and pick one of the lights that Beverly posted, above. those would look beautiful hanging from that ceiling.

take a look at attic space bedrooms and sloped ceiling bedrooms to get ideas.

take advantage of the sloped portion for built ins.

    Hi there,

Are you still looking for some recommendations?

A chandelier would look great, as you have a very high ceiling, it is just right for the room! You mentioned about having two orbs in terms of lighting. What do you mean by this? A modern style of chandelier and quite large in scale will look great, in order to fill in the space in the room. What style are you particular interested in? I will love to help you find your perfect lighting.
