Does this painting break all the rules of design?

I love the colors and my husband loves the painting just feeling it should be 10 inches smaller all around . It is huge but perfect colors. my wall is 8.5 h x 16ft wide
dining table is 76 w x 42 w

    Looks great!

Thank you . I love the colors but I once read it is better to do bigger art vs too small. It really helps with your feed back. I feel like I went over the top on this one.

Size and colors both work. Looks nice.

When picking this painting. Can I Still have a pattern tone on tone drapery?

Definitely on the drapes. Show an example please. Blue?

It's perfect. Besides the fact that you guys love it, and the colours are great, the size works because the heft of your furniture supports it. It really is beautiful

Yes I guess me trying to keep everything so neutral keeping this painting I made a commitment to blue even though my dishes are beach themed

I think it works beautifully. It is about the size of the table and there is enough blank space on both sides. Whatever you do, do NOT try to fill that blank space with other small pieces. Let that painting be the star on that wall. Lovely room!

Your beautiful painting works in this space. Anything smaller would lose it's impact. I love the colours and feel that reducing it would lose some of the most interesting elements. Large paintings anchor a space and serve as focal points, especially in this case, in the dining room. It's perfect!

Thank you guys for all your comments. it is really helping me feel more confident with this out of the norm choice. And "Yes... Nothing else on the wall" lol

Big walls need big art.. it’s proportionate and fits well with your design:)
Thank you Katie it does look proportionate to the wall 16 ft wide 8.5 h but my dining room feels over powered. I pulled my end chairs out past the painting and tricked the eye a little lol

Please don't do blue drapes!! Something that picks up the tan color in the painting would look great. Painting is perfect for the space.

    Or silver drapes.

I was thinking silver drapes I will post choices with a beautiful 1/2 rod round end cap modern polished stainless and very tone on tone print I'm getting excited I did nothing on this space for two years its penthouse ocean views and I don't want to block windows but need beautiful accent drapes 1/2 panels

I want a light modern feeling thinking taupe, grayish will look for neutral modern and open to suggestions too. thank you all for all your input . It is great

If anything it could be bigger :) but it’s definitely not too big.

Is there enough room between the table and the wall to be able to appreciate the art? As in, be able to stand btw the chairs and the wall and look at the painting without being right on top of it?

If you give the painting breathing room it will look even more like a feature vs just a decoration. I’m all for decoration, but this looks like something that asks for more attention than a quick glance.

Yes my very concern . Open concept allows you to step back and enjoy if you don't the painting will jump out and grab you. lol

Just noticed your rug in DR. Careful you don't get too busy with patterns. You've got a lot going on.

Beautiful! love it, nice job on everything

You have good taste! The only thing I would suggest is a runner in the hall with just a bit of blue in it to pull that area of the house together with the rest of the space.

Thank you I think when I just decided to keep that painting it screwed me up now for staying neutral and modern. I know I could of picked seascape.neutrals but I held back in this space but now I have a colors/ commitment. I see a painting in the hall a rug. I just think something neutral. Thanks to everyone thoughtful enough yo take your time to help with suggestions . I appreciate it.

Agree with the consensus - this is a brilliant choice. Yes, the size means it's bold, powerful, and beautiful. Let the painting own and carry most of the blue - make drapes more neutral and with fabulous texture.

That is the direction I've decided to go. tone on tone neutral let the eye be peaceful and quiet in the room
I'm thinking modern brushed nickel rods not to thick or? 1/2 panels I don't need privacy its just to complete room and horizon or hunter Douglas Roman shades I. the provenance collection just for that couple hours of sun during day to see tv. Thank you again for taking your time to help.
