Need advice on paint color transition??

We have white kitchen cabinets in a great room with Simply White walls and Chantilly Lace trim. We originally wanted all the trim to be Chantilly Lace but the white cabinets look cream as compared to the trim. We are going to paint the trim above the cabinets to match the cabinets.

Question is where to transition the crown molding from cream to white?

On the right side of the kitchen - we are thinking that the transition should be adjacent to doorway on the right side of the fridge. The white trim would start on the short wall to the left of the doorway.

On the left side of the kitchen, should the crown molding on the short wall adjacent to the left side of the cabinets be white or match the cabinets?

Are there any standard practices for this type of situation?

Thanks for your thoughts.

this is what happens when you mix 3 shades of white.

I'd paint all of the crown the same in order to be consistent.

you can try doing just the crown within the kitchen portion, stopping at the narrow walls. see how that looks. try that first and take another pic.

what color are the kitchen cabinets? didn't anyone test these colors against one another first? (i'm guessing this is a rhetorical question). just wondering how this happened.

are you getting white countertops and a white subway backsplash???

We like the slight color offset in the great room between the walls and trim. The kitchen wall cabinets are white, and the island cabinets are Maritime Blue. We've learned...so many choices of "white". The backsplash will be Cafe Water (blue) and the counters are Zodiaq Blue Carrara (white with blue veins).

ohthankyou for not getting white subway! so glad someone is going w/that beautiful blue tile for a change. your kitchen will look lovely. If the kitchen crown bothers you that much, then just change it there and stop where it turns on the thinner walls. on the left side, don't paint the crown part that faces out. keep it just on the inside wall.

Lol - I do like the white subway tile but wanted some color with all the white cabinets. I knew this blue tile was the one the first time I saw it. We are building a coastal farmhouse on a riverfront lot. It's all white and blue...colors we never get tired of. My question is exactly where to change on the left side. Do you think the crown should match the cabinets on the adjacent short wall with no cabinets? (see arrow on pic)

yes,,,because technically that side is part of the kitchen and visible with the cabinets. the other side is not.
