New Door, Need Help With Exterior Trim Color

We just installed a new door as part of our kitchen renovation, and we're at a bit of an impasse regarding what color to paint the trim. The existing trim on the rest of the house is dark green, which we don't care for, and would like to paint off-white at some point. We will probably have the entire house painted, but not for around 4 years due to budget constraints. Do we paint the door trim the same color as the trim that we hate on the rest of the house, live with it for 4 years, then repaint it in the color we actually want? Paint the trim the color we want now and live with the mismatch? DIY paint all the trim on the house until we can afford to do the entire exterior?

Advice appreciated--I'm attaching a photo of the door in question.

I would paint it to match what is there now. 4 years is a long time to live with mismatch

Are you able to leave your siding color and repaint all of your trim now? Or are you saying you can only paint the door trim now?

Denita, we're putting up new trim around the door so that will be painted regardless. Taking on painting all the trim on the house is a bit daunting, since we're still finishing this kitchen renovation and I'm 6.5 months pregnant! I'm just loathe to put on more paint that we don't like the color of, but it sounds like that may be our best option for now.

Congratulations! I totally understand and you have a lot on your plate right now. I agree with your conclusion. I bet you are looking forward to your new kitchen and the baby :) Cherish these times. 4 years will fly by before you know it.
