We get this question often at our lighting store so hope this helps Using 10" diameter pendants on 19" or 18" centers would make the space feel crowded. If you really love the pendants then one option is to place junction box covers over the middle box on each run and paint the same color as the ceiling which would give you more spacing between the fixtures. If you choose to purchase new pendants then I would recommend you choose pendants that are no larger in diameter than 8"

Pendants. You can see that the island top is dark, once you are standing in front of it doing some detailed work, you will notice increased shadowing. The increased shadowing will be the result of you blocking the light due to it being "behind" you. I hope that this makes sense. Thank you, Lynda! They're Bianco Antico, here's a better pic...I like them because they have a lot of movement and also grays, browns, and whites. Yah I had a design boo boo with my fridge, the cabinets on the left are 9" base cabinets-3 of them stacked on top of each other. I was supposed to have one 9" lower cab between the dishwasher and fridge but didn't take the fridge being able to open into consideration!! So I had to put the DW right next to the fridge which wasn't my first choice aesthetically. I didn't do custom cabs so the only stock pantry they had for the side of the fridge was 18", which would totally mess up the run on my sink side. So I got creative! You will be hard pressed to find two $100 pendants that are big enough for that large island. I would say they should be at least 18" wide. The hood is not really that exciting. . .
