design help narrow lounge room sectional couch and multiple access

HELP! please can you give me ideas what to do with this room. currently it is all painted white and i have a white l shaped sectional. I have NO idea what furniture to add. the only thoughts i had were to have a jute rug as the room can be a little dark to lighten the floor and i have just purchased a pdf of some art work i like to blow up for a frame. The TV has to stay in this corner for the Arial

point. there is a serving hatch to the kitchen at one end of the room directly opposite the double doors which lead out to the garden and one long wall to the left hand side. to the right there is open access point to the front door up a step and a study nook and walkway to the kitchen.

The photo above is shot from the serving hatch in the kitchen and you will see the chaise part of the sectional juts out to the left. it currently sits pushed back against the wall under the hatch

I also can't have coffee tables and ottomons etc as my toddler uses the room for his toys to play also :0( HELP! i've attached pics of the room, the art and the last few are pics of styles i like :)

below is a picture showing the right side of the room (walkway and study nook before i moved in and painted so the furniture in this one below is not mine.

this is the art i would like to position somewhere

and here is my ideal room style- light and with plants

On Facebook recently, I recall seeing a soft crochet ball being used as an ottoman. Something like that would be safe for a toddler.

Would NOT invest in a rug -- too easy for a toddler to trip over. Small room doesn't need it.

You could decorate the room by focusing on decorating the walls.

For the corner to the left of the door, a wood two drawer file cabinet could double as an end table rather -- solid and heavy than something lighter that could be pulled over. Then push your sofa against that.

Plants and toddlers don't usually mix well. You could add a bracket for a flower hanging basket above the fixed side of your patio door -- hung out of reach of your toddler. You might try one flower in a very large, tall, heavy pot placed in front of the fixed side of your patio door to see if you can train the toddler to leave your plants alone. Wouldn't invest in more till you can get your toddler trained.

You might also be able to find an adult sized bean bag chair -- no hard sharp edges -- in addition to a colorful bean bag chair especially for your toddler.

For additional lighting, consider wall hung lamps behind your sofa rather than something that could be pulled over.

Since the safety of your toddler is obviously a priority, you might consider investing in a plastic toy box in lieu of a coffee table -- preferably one with a flat part that might be used as a coffee table whenever the toddler is asleep.

thanks suzie- do you mean push the sectional chaise along the wall toward a two drawer filing cabinet? i think the chaise section if i move it along will block access in and out of the sliding door to the yard and as it is a fixed sor to fl shape if i spin the sectional so the back is along that long wall to the left of the sectional then it will just out and block both the sliding door and probably hit the tv unit- then i'd have blank space to the right under the hatch. this room is a nightmare lol

Is the sectional in two or three pieces -- have you tried separating them to place them.

I wouldn't even suggest this if the sectional had more of an armrest on the ends; however, since it doesn't, if the center corner piece is separate from the other two parts, you might put the corner piece in a corner but separate the other two from it.

You could set the longer of the other two parts of the with its back centered against that long left wall opposite the tv and set the shorter of the two end pieces at a right angle to the longer part of the sofa (facing the window/tv) -- as you would a chair. This might actually leave you with a space behind the "chair" -- between it and the kitchen window -- for you to create a child's play space in the same room as but "separate" from the sitting area.

If your sectional is three sections, try this both with the corner part where it is and then in the corner by the doors and see if either works.

Actually thought there isn’t a corner piece it literally separates into two pieces with two long sides making the L
