Beige Gray Ivory White Dilemma

last modified: 7 years ago

So my entire house was various colors of beige and I got a gray hair (LOL) and painted the living room kitchen and laundry room gray. The master bath needs updating and I'm having trouble deciding ivory or white subway tile for the shower and what color to choose for the floor. I feel like the further I go the more difficult choices are becoming. I like the farmhouse style but want things to look like the go together. My 1st choice for tile floor in the master bath would be wood looking tile if I didn't have real hardwood in the rest of the house. OMG I'm about to pull my hair out.

Ok, you have real hardwood in the rest of the house? Including your bedroom? My first step would be to find a floor tile that coordinates nicely with your wood floor. It could blend or provide contrast or be a print...then build the rest of the look from there. A more bite-size step will hopefully get your brain unblocked!!

If you want to give pictures of what you have, especially the adjacent room if it is finished to your liking, you could get some more specific ideas :)

White is classic ! Why don't you post pictures of the bath? And a few of the rest.:)

No room is just about ONE selection. It's all the elements making a pleasing whole. Put a little idea book together on houzz as well

I mixed beige and gray in bedroom and love it. We already have white tile around tub but are going to update shower and want it to match. This is where I’m having trouble with white or ivory. I had picked out the ivory combination attached but want to be sure it will go with farmhouse style.

Kitchen was recently painted gray and you see we were committed to beige. Is this going to work?

I love what you've chosen. It's beautiful and classic. The tile around the shower should match the tub exactly or be a contrast. Close but no cigar doesn't work at all. So if that tile matches the tub, go for it! It will be beautiful.

Farmhouse style is very fluid in my opinion. Nearly anything can skew farmhouse and it is often about accessories. These pretty tiles are a good base for it.

Do you mean, are the bathroom tiles going to work with the kitchen? If that's what you're asking the answer is: it doesn't really matter. They will never be viewed at the same time!

No. I posted this pic of the kitchen just so you can see where we were beige and are trying to go gray. Does this look ok or should we have stayed in the beige family with our paint choices? Don't want to make a mess of the entire house if I'm going in the wrong direction.

The close-up looks good, would have to see the complete picture to comment beyond that.

Your bedroom is really pretty too :)
