Take away the vase with flowers by the door - instead, place a large rug in front of the door with artwork on the wall. Then, add a console table opposite where the art is currently leaning against the wall, with a mirror (or coordinating art) above it, with a lamp and a few select pieces on the table. Re: the table, I'd try a "half circle" table...

How will this space be used? Is it your everyday entrance in and out of the house, or will it be used mostly by occasional guests? If you are using it everyday, it needs more functional furnishings than if it’s only used occasionally.

Betty... I think I see a hallway in the foreground with french doors on the right and then a dark area in front of the door. Is that the foyer? Can you show a photo of that as well? I can't tell if there are any doors off that space, closets for example. Do you want advice for both spaces or only in the space near the door? (Lois asks some great questions. We only use our front door on Halloween!)
