Anyone have insight on Signature Kitchen Suite line of appliances?

We are in the process of making appliance decisions for the house we are building. We are considering Signature products (gas cooktop, double wall ovens, and dishwasher), but cannot find any reviews since this product line just came to market in January 2016. This product line is an offshoot of LG. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Still loving your SKS??

I have received mine but waiting for the install. I also created a group on FB called SKS Kitchen Inspiraton Group to generate more discussion and a place for pictures like some other range groups since there is so little for us believers so far. . Hope to get it moving with discussion.

Have you had them installed yet and how are they working? What did you end up selecting?

They just paid for an extended junket trip for a design ”influencers” group to go to wine country and mix and mingle with alcohol, fine food, and quasi celebrities. Do not ever think that all that gushing about that product is ground based user enthusiasm. It is bought and paid for sold their soul for a bottle of wine marketing.

I don’t know if the appliance line is good or not. But the “alcohol, fine food, and quasi celebrities” - plus, the ”bought and paid for sold their soul for a bottle of wine marketing“ made my day. Thank you, Verbo.

Verbo that must mean business is good and they are selling a lot of those award winning ranges:)

They actually are NOT selling SKS very well. Which is why they are paying influencers as a marketing tactic. They are overpriced, and they cannot overcome their albatross of horrible quality and service that their name has.

Most people aren’t that stupid to think they are a completely different company, even if they have that different branding attempt. Luxury is built from the rock solid reliable base up, not the expensive price marketed down. When they can’t do the basics of their base lines right?

Korihauer12 my install won't be until later this summer as palm beach county takes forever. VERBO a little on the heavy negative side. I already have a LG fridge and 2 sets of washers and dryer THAT I LOVE. I have no problem with the base company and I REALLY like the features for the range I selected. And it did win best in show last year. Marketing is the SAME everywhere to get a new line out there.

Cruzito, hope you got your fridge replaced. How are your other appliances from SKS performing for you?

We went with the columns and are enjoying them immensely. Still lots to learn using my rangetop.

Still haven't gotten mine installed really looking forward to it. They're just sitting on the garage :(

CruzitoCrudities: I believe it’s time for you to file a complaint with the NV State Attorney General’s Office, your credit card company or both. Warranties are enforceable but brands often play waiting games to wear the consumer down and ”run out the clock”.

Not much here from people actually using the appliances for a decisive amount of time. Does anyone else have a real-world review?

Just look for reviews of the comparable LG (and Sharp) appliances:

    • Like all microwave drawers, the SKS SKSMD2401S ($1900) is manufactured by Sharp but lacks the tilt control panel that's exclusive to Sharp models (e.g., SHARP SMD2470ASY - $1300).
    • The SKS SKSFD3613S 36-inch Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator ($4900) is the same as the LG LRFXC2416S without the door-in-door feature ($3500) and LG LRFDC2406S with it ($3800) except for some differences in appearance.
    • Note that some nearly-identical LG appliances are sold under LG Studio and Signature (SKS). For example, the following: LG STUDIO LSWS306ST Built-In Wall Oven ($2300); SIGNATURE UPWS3044ST SINGLE WALL OVEN ($3600)
    • Likewise, the LG LDP6810SS ($950) and Signature SKSDW2401S ($1500) dishwashers appear similar.

Some appliances are unique to Signature.

I have a complete SKS kitchen, the only one Id say Im not happy with is the microwave, its a drawer microwave and works great however the control panel is flush with the front of the counter and NOT backlit, under most lighting conditions the controls are not visible, horrible oversight, called in and was told working as designed, would not buy again.

I have the 48" cooktop, induction/gas/soue vede , its amazing, the gas burners are the highest outout of any I found, they cook! Also double over works great, my wife bakes and she loves it, very even heat. Side by side 32" fridge and freezer, ton of storage, custom wooden front, love it, Also bought the sks dishwasher, runs a little on the small size inside but quiet and does a great job, over 30k in appliances , top notch.

Forgot to mention service/support. The microwave drawer was malfunctioning turns out due to an installation error, no actual problem with the microwave. I called into support and they were superlative, responsive, arranged a service call, fixed the install issue no charge, couldn't imagine a better experience , IMHO this is the #1 reason to buy SKS!

Douglas Patterson did you do the double wall oven with the speed/steam combo?

@Douglas Patterson: "its a drawer microwave...the control panel is flush with the front of the counter and NOT backlit, under most lighting conditions the controls are not visible, "

Which is why, if one must have a drawer microwave, the only models to buy are those made by Sharp -- which manufacturers all drawer ovens -- which have a flip-down control panel visible from above.

Just installed the combo microwave/wall oven and gas cooktop. Like the chunky knobs, the two gliding oven racks, nicely styled. My previous Bosch microwave was more powerful at 1000W vs. 950W. Beware: the stainless steel cooktop scratches easily. Are manufacturers using inferior quality of stainless? A neighbor has the same issue with her new Bosch dishwasher.

Note that the following double wall ovens are basically the same with the exception of appearance and controls:

I am a Designer and I spec’d SKS for my own kitchen. I have 30” freezer/refigerator columns and 2ea 18” wine columns. I love them, no problems and have had Monogram GE, Thermador, Subzero, Gaggenau, KitchenAide and Miele. I did not buy the SKS because of marketing ploys or free wine..lol Verbo you need to stop being a troll as you don’t even mention why you have such a beef with these? Do you own any SKS?

I have had great success with my LG appliances and like these better than the Monogram and Thermador which had issues.

Right now, i'd steer clear of the new 48" french door fridge - looks awesome but . .- mine has been ordered since Feb - with constant representation of expected delivery date and I still don't have a shipping date - thought it was Ferguson - but they've shared emails from SKS fullfilment making the comments - must be having significant production problems.

Have 30” SKS freezer fridge columns, we like both very much. But fridge panel had a dent, they came and took panel away with out bringing a replacement per LG policy. Now using a 30” column with no handle- a pain and waiting. Looking for any instructions on the design intent of mystery second ice maker drawer, door and compartments. I am sure the manual author knows but they did not share. The lack of backlit buttons on the Under counter SKS microwave makes it hard to use without a flashlight handy; thinking of using small stickers on the open and start buttons for quick use; getting the Sharp next time.

Yes, I did purchase the double wall oven with speed/steam combo, and haven't used that feature once.

@Jack Farmer: "Looking for any instructions on the design intent of mystery second ice maker drawer, door and compartments."

Based on the photograph of the freezer, there is no "mystery second ice maker drawer" that's pointed out in the diagram on page 9 of the Owners Manual.* Rather there appear to be two multi-use drawers installed below the ice maker. The drawers, their supports, and door bins can be moved around following the instructions pages 15-16. Can a multi-use drawer be swapped with the ice-maker drawer to allow you to store more ice? It doesn't look like it from the photo but maybe.

"The lack of backlit buttons on the Under counter SKS microwave makes it hard to use..."

All drawer microwave ovens are manufactured by Sharp. The only ones that would be convenient to use would be the Sharp models with the flip-down control panel. It appears that Sharp does not provide this feature in ovens it manufactures for other brands.

*The diagram does contain the disclaimer, "The images in this guide may be different from the actual components and accessories, which are subject to change by the manufacturer without prior notice for product improvement purposes."

great question, there is a small difference in the drawers that looks like a slot, maybe a photo eye that controls/stops the icemaking when full, if so the drawers cant be swapped hwoever you can simply pour the made ice into the second drawer. Curious if anyone else has an answer. I was actually sold as the freezer having two icemakers, it doesnt!

    The specs dont' say that.

I found Yale Appliances on Youtube to be a good source on info on all appliances. Great channel fir info.

Meh, I’ve had SKS for about 2 years now. The biggest disappointment is the built in griddle. I’m not sure it comes up to the proper temp and then shuts down and won’t heat again until it looses 50-75 degrees. So the food starts well, but by the time you turn it over the griddle has cooled off. Also, the trough for drips and scraps doesn’t really catch everything so its a cleaning mess.
I’ve had repair check it several times and they say it’s working according to spec. Has anyone from LG actually tried to cook on it?

Love our SKS appliances. Easy to use, ez cleanup and love all the features including sous vide

I bought the kitchen package. So far the hood had problems and the dishwasher needs to be replaced. The digital panel on the 36” range was giving me problems but I managed to mess with it until it worked. The drawer microwave is not back lit. The under-counter fridge freezer combo is so tiny and keeps pinching my fingers. I wish I never purchased this line.

    • Only buy a Sharp drawer microwave. Sharp manufacturers all drawer microwave ovens and the Sharp models are the only ones with the flip-down control panel that's visible from above.
    • Yes, the SKS under-counter refrigerator is small at 3.4 cf but that's clearly stated in the spec sheet and other manufacturers offer appliances with more capacity.
    • Manufacturers including LG often sell nearly the identical appliance under several brands. The $1400 SKS SKSDW2401S is similar to the $800 LG LDPS6762S with the exception of appearance, e.g., the handle.

Does anyone know if the stainless panels that SKS sells to go with their refrigerators are pre-drilled for the handles? I am wanting the french door refrigerator with the flex door, in stainless, but I don't like their handles and want to try and replace them with something that looks more like the GE Monogram Minimalist handle style? I've been trying thru SKS and sales reps to find out if they are pre-drilled, and if so, what the hole spacing is so that I can see if it's possible to use different ones. The specific fridge I'm wanting is the 36" French door model with flex drawer, SKSFD3604P. The panel kit says the handles are 31 11/16 but doesn't say anything about how to install them, wether the panels are pre-drilled or what the hole spacing is.

Also, this is a long shot, but does anyone know if you can change the handles on their wall oven?

Trying to get information from their support has been horrible. The installation support line points you to their website and YouTube and then hangs up on you. When I have talked to a live person, they don't have any answers other than what's already on their website - the same information that I've already viewed.

GE has a new panel ready fridge that's very similar and much cheaper, but it's not in stores yet. Has anyone seen this?

I am incredibly disappointed in the lack of response from customer service as SKS. We installed a 48” range top 4 months ago and the other night while cooking smelled a burning plastic smell and saw some smoke coming from the sous vide area. We cut power to the machine and immediately wrote to SKS. So far image written 3 times with now response at all. So much for a 5 day repair promise!! Not even a response in 5 days so far. Unless they surprise me, I would stay away from SKS.

@ROWAN FINNEGAN: "So far image written 3 times with now response at all. So much for a 5 day repair promise!!"

The website says, "If your appliance cannot be repaired within 5 days, we will work with you to provide a solution that meets your needs, up to and including replacement if necessary**.

**Available through the length of the product warranty. Upon product registration."

Did you register the appliances which assigns you a "Kitchen Concierge Representative" which presumably is a contact at the company with whom you can work if there are problems?

Ready to order 2 panel ready - 30" column refrigerators and 1 30" freezer any more reviews on either?

I bought the 48inch range, dishwasher, 48 inch kitchen/freezer, and the hood. They look nice but not impressed with the quality for the money I spent. Dishwasher had issues with the racks right out the gate. Freezer had a small water leak (not from install connection), and the range has had issues with the screen flickering when both ovens are being used at the same time. In fact the install guy advised to never used the self clean casue they are seeing issues with the screens when using the self clean option which is concerning for a $15k range. Have had for only 4 months. At the end of the day these are LG products with a fancy name tag. When buying the suite of these appliances they entice you with a nice rebate back. Well its been 3 months since I sent in the rebate forms and still dont have the rebate back from LG and nobody can tell me when I will receive and confirm the $ amount that was calculated. Spending over $40K on applicances I expected a better experience. I would go a different route if I could do over.

We have the Double Oven with Sous Vide, the Counter Depth Refrigerator and over the range Microwave. Love the Double Oven and refrigerator but very unhappy with the Microwave. Two week ago we heard a loud POP and it stopped working. They did send a LG service out who had ordered the wrong parts. New parts were ordered again and he returned today ( total of 11 days) because we had to wait for a 2nd person to help him install. Called SKS and asked for a supervisor. So far no one has called back. Not confident about the service or if this will fail again.

I have the 48" range top with gas, sous vide and induction. Every burner has its own timer (including the induction side)! It is so versatile; I LOVE it & so far it's been worth every penny.

  • last year

I have the 48," with gas burners, sous vide and induction. I love it! I also chose the dishwasher and drawer microwave. I did have occasion where I needed to a service call for the oven and it over heated due to a very small part. I am happy to say SKS service was awesome! They responded within the week sent 3 technicians and it was resolved. Any calls I made with questions about the products were answered quickly and efficiently. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the microwave because the control panel doesn't tilt out for easy reading. Overall SKS has been worth the leap of faith!

  • last year

My recent calls to service have NOT been great. SKS advertises special service. This time I requested a SKS service person. There IS a difference. The last service person was LG and made excuses for everything. I originally started with an LG fridge but sent TWO back and finally upgraded to SKS which I LOVE. The service tech will be here tomorrow and I just got the typical LG TEXT giving me a list of things to try and then stating" You may be charged for this service". !!! They seem to be blending SKS with LG. We are suppose to have SKS service with NO hassle. Very irritating.

I have a full line of signature series in my kitchen, double steam oven, built-in refrigerator and 36" dual fuel flex cooktop with sous vide, gas and induction. I was talked into doing the signature series because it was available for my new home and thermador was nearly 18 months out. I have used thermador and wolfe in the past and am a big fan of both. I was hoping the signature line would be a fierce competitor (something the sales person told me was true).

Refrigerator is great, I really like it. The oven is nothing special and I struggle to figure out how to work the steam part to actually make beautiful breads. The microwave is just as you would expect a microwave to work but the open button broke within the first year. The cooktop is really hugely disappointing. I love being in the kitchen, hosting parties, making gourmet food. The cooktop is not the workhorse I need. I wanted both gas and induction because I like cooking with gas but induction doesn't heat the house up and uses less energy. I do love the boost setting on the cooktop that heats to a boil in lightening speed. However, the induction side of the cooktop only works at full power when one burner is being used. If you use both burners, you can visually see the power reduction in the foods being cooked. Also, the induction heats in a narrow circle and you can see the heat ring in the food being cooked. This results in hot spots and uneven cooking. Also, on the induction, there is a narrow gap between the glass and the edge of the cooktop which is constantly filling with crumbs and food and is almost impossible to keep clean. I always feel like my cooktop looks dirty as a result of that.

It is a beautiful kitchen appliance set but I wish I would have waited and got what I really wanted.

I have had the SKS dual fuel with sous vide for about 6 months. It is a very quirky stove. Be very careful about opening the oven doors, even without steam function on, as large billows of steam emerge capable of burning your face, which happened to me once. SKS admits this issue and tells one to stand aside. Tonight I used the large oven. Would not turn off plus the light went on in the left oven and is still on with the door soundly shut. Probe function not reliable. And for what it's worth, gas burners make a whirring noise when on. This stove is poorly engineered. I am asking for LG/SKS to take it back.
