Thank you so much for the suggestions nancy. I love the bright color choices (red and blue) and hadn't thought of that! But I'm thinking we're going to go conservative and are debating between a color just like the first one, more grey, or more of a taupe/tan like the last one.

If you are thinking of using a new color and are uncertain how it will look up against your roof line. White is always a good transition color to use on your trim work. It will enable you to use a greater variety of color on the body of your home. Typically greys against beige / peach or greens don't transition as well. Stick with white trim and you should be ok. Look at some of the work we have done painting in San Diego.

Goodness, your roof is not ugly. I would change the white to khaki, keep the brick as is, and paint the door a dark red ( SW Rustic Red) or a darker sage green. Remove the shutters. Please do not fall into the " I want to paint something/everything gray") trap!! Just look at these threads and see how many people are asking how to make their gray mistakes work. I would check with a landscaper about a possible plan before removing your azaleas.
