Oil stain on porous granite - Best cleaning method?

I have Caledonia granite countertops in my home. It is definitely a porous color - water darkens the granite and eventually dries back to its original color.

The counter near my cooking range is dark, I think olive oil may have seeped in. Is there any way to remove or lessen the darkening, without harming the finish?

I've read about a baking soda and water paste method - has anyone had any success with this? Thanks!
